MidiBus has no problems starting and stopping Genome here. Air 1, iOS 9.0
Well nice .
So you'll get some split screen action soon... I hope Genome gets updated to work with Split Screen.
I completely forgot I could install iElectribe iPhone version on my iPad. That's a great idea! I could duplicate the patch and apply a second, different iElectribe effect. Or just get 16 voices.
My main device is currently an Air1 with just 32Gb so I deleted BeatHawk because of file size and a few other issues. But it has a real mix of sounds in the one app - so maybe I need to look into that.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000
the issue with Beathawk is MIDI-in promiscuity, so I'll be learning more about midi apps, or more likely I just haven't figured it out
Having it in the mix (using inapp clips, or sequencing pads from Genomes piano roll) is worth it for the sounds as you say (including ones own). It like having iMPC pro inside Tabletop, which I like, except here the end result is nth degree of iOS quality stems
@Matt_Fletcher_2000
Is there an app that will enforce a selectable midi in channel on the promiscuous Beathawk?
Thank you for trying to help. That's how I have it set up, and genome can see Midibus, but midibus cannot see genome
I started MidiBus first then Genome appeared when it started. If that makes a difference.
I think so. What you need to do is make sure Beathawk doesn't receive any midi at all from Genome. Then have Genome send its Midi to MidiFlow and set up a filter that filters by channel, sending only, say, channel 6 data through to BeatHawk.
Quite easy to do in MidiFlow - as long as you can keep midi away from being sent directly to BeatHawk.
Thanks! I'll try it today when my students are at recess
Solved. For some reason virtual ports got turned off when I updated it.
I think I have to reach out to Mr Beathawk at UVI. Unfortunately Midiflow only works if the app has selectable or fixed single channel in. Beathawk receives all channels sent from all available midi. Promiscuous little twist.
Yep. They at least fixed that on Gadget. So now you can avoid sending virtual midi to gadget (although not, I believe, hardware midi).
I need to try this. I break up with Genome in a "It's not me, it's you" sort of way every time I try it. Think I just need to approach it the 'right way' and this sounds like a candidate.
Just dropped Mr Beathawk a note. If Beathawk can stay as sexy as it is, but end its promiscuous days, it would complete the Genome scheme I've got going right now (but in stages at present) Beathawk, iElectribe(s), various synths, all sequenced and simultaneously all jam-able all the time, into MTS. Maybe LP-5 too if I can figure out dudes MIDI layout.
I had a go with LP-5 yesterday with exactly that thinking.
You could have a genome track that triggers LP-5 loops.
The only slight issue is you can't trigger individual clips via midi (bit of a shame). You trigger a scene (row) of 5 clips at a time.
You can also, mute any of the 5 tracks.
You can also switch the two IAA effects on and off per track.
But if you want to trigger audio loops with Midi then BM2 or Nanostudio might be just as good.
