Looking for portable mic...
...specifically to plug into an ipad mini in my jacket pocket for recording myself talking hands free while walking outside, usually in noisy environments (traffic and rain). I could try the range of phone mic earbuds or headsets but was wondering if there is something a little more pro suited to recording voice in this manner.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I think that the only hands-free mic that comes with a lightning connection is this one:

It's pricey though, you might be better off just using the standard Apple headset.
The Apple earbuds are actually great for this if you have them in a recent iPhone. The iPhones now have several mics for noise cancelling and it works very well in the setting you want to record in.
The thin headsets that are for theater/stage use are better at rejecting ambient noise than the lapel mics, because it's closer to your mouth. It's a thin wire headset that loops over the top of your head. Might take some hunting to find one with the mobile phone type TRRS 3.5mm plug, but it'll work better than any lapel mic.
Are you saying the new earbuds have multiple mics in them, to do a noise canceling thing? The phone's do it with a couple mics placed in different spots in the device, but I hadn't heard of an earbud that incorporated that. Or I wonder if they still are using the mic on the top of the iPhone to run a noise canceling thing with the earbud's mic?
Cool cool, thank you very much for the info! 8)
