One Page Synths
I have a liking for iPad synths that use mostly one page for the synth sound parameters. They can use more for other features or settings, but I work much quicker making sounds where I can see all the sound parameters at once.
Some other synths have unique scrolling interfaces or other ways to get to the settings quick.
It kinda reminds me of the difference between programming a Prophet 5 and my old Alesis Andomeda. The Andromeda did loads, but was a pain to program. The Prophet did less, but was a complete joy.
What UIs do you prefer for iOS synths, or iOS apps in general?
Comments
Thor has a great ui. For one page easy programming though, at least for most of the synthesis options, isem and imini both take the cake. Sunrizer is pretty good with that as well.
Yep some of my favourites are LaPlace, Lorrentz and SynthQ for their simple to use programming interfaces.
Sunrizer, Stroke Machine, iSEM, and iMINI off the top of my head
iPolysix, iMS20, FM4
I think I should have worded this differently. I have most of the iOS synths.
I was wondering what you all prefer as interfaces on iOS synths. How would you change them if you could?

This used to be an issue with me too until I got some control surfaces. Now it is less of a thing once I've mapped a synth the way I need it.
Sunrizer!
I like a single page, reminds me of using my MS20 - no scrolling or changing pages with that boy. Apps like Mitosynth drive me around the bend, that make you flick through a whole bunch of sections to just twiddle one small thing. I know some have performance sections, where you can program the x/y pads or whatever, but I might change my mind and want to tweak something else.
Yep, I am going to have to get a control surface one day. As I want to keep my rig as mobile as possible, I was thinking of that one (forgot its name) that is the shape of the iPad.
@monzo
"But I might change mind mind and want to tweak something else" sums it up for me. Playing or programming, it's them small on the spot tweaks that make all the difference.
I love the sound of Nlog Pro, but have no desire to keep switching pages to program it. Ok, it's not as bad as the many two line displays on rack synths I've programmed in the past, but hey I want my iPad to be a musical instrument not a spreadsheet.
SynthQ is brilliant for this
Thor and sunrizer for small keys/fullscreen options.
I like the keyboard scroll in laplace at bottom of keys (surprisingly doesn't get in the way when playing the onscreen keyboard).
But, most of us are going to use a midi keyboard to really play these things, so why not have a fullscreen(no keyboard) option? They should all have that imo.
Any synth with tiny controls gets deleted off my ipad. Bigger, clearer controls and labelling are big pluses. Small to no keys on screen would allow this for most. On screen keyboard playability should be way down on the priority list for these real synth apps. Unless the keys are doing something special like animoog modulation.
Fullscreen gadgets! This option in Gadget would be the thing that would excite me most I think. Imagine a fullscreen gadget sitting atop your midi keyboard with the loaded gadgets being swipeable(or semi transparent arrow buttons) left and right?? yes!
So in summary, fullscreen/no keyboard option please.
@Redo1
+1 for full size gadgets with some form of quick change to the other gadgets.
