  • You need a depends option lol

  • Personally I have no major issues with iOS9.0.1 and most apps are slowly getting updates to fix things.

My Mini is still on iOS8.4.1 waiting for iOS9.1 when the 'App Thinning' and 'Byte-Code' will hopefully be enabled.

And well, today it's time to upgrade the MacBOok Air to 10.11 and get back the AirDrop functionality between iPad and OS X (it's broken between iOS9.0.1 and OS X 10.10.5).

Some apps also have broken iCloud Drive share sheet in iOS9.0.1(TwistedWave is one of them).

I do like iOS9 on my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5 but I see no rush to upgrade unless wanting to live on the bleeding edge which is my 'thing' anyway, I love to update things :D

  • I should have added that I'm wondering if it's safe to upgrade my iPad Air 1 128gb

  • I could add a 'depends' option but only if you explain why it depends.... shall I do that?

  • My iPad has a safety word it's 'iOS7' otherwise is goes supernova in a mult-orgasmic meltdown of bits and bytes, seriously what's safe?

  • From what I've read in other threads, if you're using Auria then the answer is 'no'

  • I bought a phone with 9.0.1 on it. Apps in AudioBus work sometimes. Some apps work great most of the time but I wouldn't go near OS 9.0 if I couldn't risk not being able to use the device for the next 3 months as a worst case scenario, maybe longer..

If you can or don't mind this device being out of action then go for it. Otherwise it is still too early.

  • If you use your iPad for anything serious, or have must have working apps, don't update to iOS 9!

It's not a hugh range of problem apps, but some pretty major apps are next to useless. It's not just an AudioBus problem either.

  • Safe for me if you upgrade? 100% ;)

  • Was it ever safe to upgrade to iOS 8? I'm still on 7.1.2, lol.

    Pmsl ;)

  • When I updated to iOS8 I waited for a bit and monitored the problems others were reporting, waited for them to die down a bit - and had no problems whatsoever going from 7 to 8

This time round there seems to be less problems being reported...

  • And I don't use Auria, so that's not an issue

  • Poll is oldschool now...iOS 9.02 is out ;)

  • I'd say that when iOS9.1 hits the streets in November or so It's fairly safe to update :)

    I think that's what I did when I went from 7 to 8

  • Only nag I have about iOS9.0.2 at the moment is the non-working iCloud Drive sheet in TwistedWave as it works in all other apps that support it... (TwistedWave has it's own import-sheet that fails to render the content leaving an empty-screen with a cancel button. I've already contacted the developer regarding this).

  • For IPad or iPhone (or both) ?

TwistedWave on both iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5, both running iOS9.0.2, If it was me you were asking :)

Other parts of the app work just fine so it's just a minor annoyance...

  • Apologies @Samu, I should have directed my query to the original post / poll.

  • @Igneous1 No worries :)

For me everything I do with the iPad and iPhone works as expected using Cubasis, Gadget, AudioShare as main apps together with other apps.

Lately I've noticed that I'm not that dependent on AudioBus since I don't play live and most apps have export options or can act as an IAA-Instrument/Generators that can be fed into AudioShare or to the computer using StudioMux.

I do understand the worries from those who use multiple apps in live-situations...

  • The one thing I would like to have is the split screen. That would be handy. Other than that, I can't say I'm excited about it at all. 9.1 is an excellent strategy.

  • I've added iOS 9.0.2 to my iPad 2 and it seems to be doing better than the early days of the iOS 7 to 8 transition. Back then Audiobus would crash trying to do just about anything. I haven't had crashes yet, mostly just run out of memory with the more intensive apps like Egoist which has been an issue for me through all of the iOS changes. Even when I push things with Egoist and get lots of crackling and slow as molasses tempo distortion, Audiobus hasn't crashed yet which was what would have happened about this time last year. Nevertheless, the button response for the Audiobus buttons can be quite slow depending upon how long it's been since you've switched apps. So probably best to hold off on iOS 9 to see if it gets more optimized for the older devices like an iPad 2.

Have to say that the ad blocker is also a V.E.R.Y. welcome addition.

  • In case anybody was concerned their Mosaik app wouldn't work on iOS 9, you can rest easy as it works just as well as it ever has on my iPad 2.

I don't have the need to use my iOS music capabilities nearly as much as some (most?) of you, but I also don't want my simple (and presently working) setup to go south for no good reason, given my simple requirements.

That's simple then. Don't upgrade yet. I didn't get a choice with my iPhone, but my iPad stays on 8 for now.

  • Will Alchemy work?

Both - but I do all my music on the iPad, so that's what I'm most concerned about
