Just got a fresh update. Seem a bit deeper but I can't get IAA midi to work now. Been communicating with the developer but if anyone else can get IAA midi in AUM working let me know
Yes it is a giant update (620 Mo instead of 150 Mo) with a new GUI . Is it possible to have a video demo before updating ?
Just tried this, again, and can’t get a peep out of it.
No probs here, played by Fugue Machine in Aum. Air2, latest ios.
The bitklavier app is for the piano enthusiast, bending strings in a strange fashion, a very very nice sounding piano with a bit cryptic fx modules for tuning/detuning, repeats, reverse etc. - and history ...
That's strange, can't get it to trigger midi from Fugue machine or anything yet when in AUM......
ok, yes I can get it to work if I use "Fugue machine midi out" but not if I send to AUM midi port. So I still think that IAA midi is not working.
@Carnbot yes, correct. Managed to send Rozeta Collider to it with Thumbjam and Quantum, w/ virtual ports and midi thru.
Developer of this app is a music prof at Princeton, and offers a free online course at:

Hey everyone, my name is Mike Mulshine. I am one of the lead developers of bitKlavier and work directly with Dan Trueman on a regular basis. The new version of bitKlavier was build with JUCE and is very stable on iOS, Mac, and Windows. In addition, regular updates and fixes will continue for the indefinite future. Check out all things bitKlavier on our website.
The new version does support IAA audio. IAA midi is not supported quite yet, but hopefully will be soon. This is dependent on developments with the JUCE framework. The new app is a lot more powerful and robust! Soon, generic sample input will be supported using SoundFonts.
Here is the first tutorial for getting started with the new app.
BitKlavier has stopped working in iOS 15, I have tested this with an iPad Pro M1. The application won’t open, only showing a black screen.
Do you plan to fix this, @mrmulshine ?
No black screen, but instant crash. Love this instrument. Here’s hoping, @mrmulshine
Thanks to iMazing in my Mac, I have been able to install the previous version of bitKlavier, the 2.8.
And this works without problems in iOS 15.
I'm extra cautious, so I always keep the previous versions of all my purchased apps as .ipa files in an external hard drive.
So while they fix this (and the developer is aware and working on it), I still can use one of my favorite prepared pianos.
Did anyone know that Bitklavier works now as AUV3? Well, “works”. I can play the Basic Piano preset that initially loads, but none of the menus work. The standalone works as expected. Is this replicable? Using AUM.
EDIT: screenshot…
That's good news but a shame it's not working properly, I wonder if it's yet to be officially supported as I didn't see it mentioned in any updates...I can't get the menus working either.
I can't even get a sound out of it....ok I can now, but the ui is too buggy to experiment with it a lot
I really like this app but I can’t seem to change presets or edit anything when using it as an AU. Is this standard or a bug? It was just updated today but I had this issue before and after the update. Would love to be able to use it in AUM as more than just an okay piano sound.
As much as I’ve enjoyed this app in the past I finally deleted today. It takes up a lot of space, is glitchy, doesn’t work as an AU, and I can do the same thing with Just Piano, Pitch Drift, Reverser Delay, and Replicant 3 ran in a row.
Thanks for this idea. I really wanted this one, but storage size weighs a lot for me, so I never got it.
I recall trying to search for some soundfont that could be similar to this too
No problem! It’s a great app and I loved it years ago. It still works as IAA but AU doesn’t allow anything besides the default piano patch which isn’t great. And the standalone/IAA can be glitchy at times as well. It’s fun but not worth the price/storage it takes up. The UI is also not intuitive at all.
The setup I mentioned earlier can get you most of the way there (and more in some cases) and sounds better to boot.
Also there may be a couple of similar sounds on Pianobook.
