Midi sequencing start/stop with Chordion into Genome/Pro Midi/Multitrack studio?

This might be a super silly question but I haven't figured this out yet.

If I want to use Chordion or other similar apps (chord poly pad), is there a way to sync the start of record in Genome/ProMidi with either the first key press in Chordion or at least some count-in feature.

Basically, I'm finding that miss the first beat when I try to record midi sequence...

Or maybe I'm doing it all wrong, if someone can think of an easier way to sequence chords, arpeggios etc. I would LOVE to hear it.

Thanks everyone.

Trying to find an answer for it, mate
    Nothing yet :(

  • I'm doing something using Genome and MultitrackStudio that might be similar, but I'm not sure how Chordion would play into it: MTS sends clock start stop to Genome, Genome recieves that and sends clock to synths and drum boxes. MTS talks to Genome, Genome talks to everybody else...

  • Thanks Littlewoodg, thats pretty clever! thanks... midi playing nice between apps is such a pain, even with things like midibridge

  • Did you try just adding a manual count in (drum beat or whatever) to the MIDI recording apps?

  • And Mts records everything in time?

It does. For the 5ish apps needed for this set up, it had to be MTS, BM2 and Cubasis were both fails time wise. Crashy too, when I used the more cpu hungry synths

The other wrinkle with MTS that's interesting and worth playing with, MTS uses click track to set up your time sig and tempo, and that midi track can be edited for both, so midi clock out of MTS can have built in time sig and tempo changes

  • Still haven't got tight sync - but it is closer. And that little convo reverb is making it a killer.

MTS is chock full of cool stuff! At one point I had drift that turned out to be duplication of midi connections somewhere, like I was sending clock to everybody from both genome and mts, or I had Elastic listening to genome for notes and mts for clock..because the midi implementation among apps has that craft fair flavor, there was a lot of weird trial and error that I'm no longer pissed off about because it is now sorted for my modest needs
