Blast From Apps Past..XENON-Groove Synthesizer, Demo for iPad
I had a request to do this, I'm really pleased I had another play with XENON http://thesoundtestroom.com/blast-from-apps-past-xenon-groove-synthesizer-demo-for-ipad/

That's weird, I had a go with this last night - first time in over a year - probably spurred on by my love of their newer Laplace and Lorentz synths. Enjoyed mucking about with the XENON synths - good sounds possible, but have never really got to grips with the sequencer - thanks for the vid, hopefully I'll learn a few things.
Highly Under-recognized app.
I am astounded that more people don't love this.
Particularly, the fact that like so many Ice Workz, it is on IPad AND IPhone. This is a critical thing for me personally.
This company is seriously top notch.
With a little better marketing and clever approach they could crush the synth/music app genre in sales.
For example, I wish they put a little more effort into their presets. At least have a bank of already tweaked interesting sounds for people who aren't apt to program sounds. This is why Sunrizer is a favorite for people from day 1. Newbs get app with amazing cool sounds and love it. Then they grow and learn to program their own sounds.
Labeling sounds Lead 01, Lead 02, Bass 01, etc is a lazy approach for apps that have obviously been well thought out and run flawlessly compared to many others.
Only thing I would like to see is multiple channels options for Argon. Hard to use simultaneously with other apps and sequencers.
Thanks Sir Doug. I was wittering on elsewhere about being unable to play into the thing live, but your video shows me the error of my ways (while also causing me to consider my descent into some mixture of blindness/dementia).
I would agree with the general theme here that this is an under-rated bit of business.
I'd agree with that, I'm one of those who - although I can program my own patches - automatically goes through the presets and like many others makes a judgement based on what's already available. Last night I was mucking about with the XENON synths, inspired by their other apps, and was shocked at how good the sounds I was making were - really good synths in their own right.
Thanks again to Doug, the sequencer tutorial has helped so I'll be having a go with this later tonight.
I like Xenon quite a bit and it's one of those in my mental re-download queue if I'm looking for something different. I'm fond of Argon, as well.
