Caustic on iOS 9
Not bought this little gem yet. Anyone used it on iOS 9.02 yet? Used to have it on my Android and fancied another dabble.
Comments
Only nag is that it needs to be white-listed in order to work with AudioShare, but other than that it seems to run fine under iOS9.0.2...
^ white-listed ???
It's for the app-developers, they have to allow their app to be called from AudioShare by adding a small line to the info.plist file. It's all described at the AudioShare developer page, the new SDK adds this automatically so developers just need to update their app to use latest AudioShare SDK...
Apps that use iOS File-Picker to access AudioShare work just fine.
Caustic is one of my favourite music making apps on iOS. It's the equilivent of Propellerhead's Reason for iOS. It works great on iOS 9.02.
I need to hear some hi quality caustic demos because Ive heard a lot of good things and back in the day I used reason and did enjoy the layout and stuff. So is caustic as ace as Im thinking? Sometimes in apps umm, well basically the sound is thin or maybe just not up to full production sound(in some way), or whatever lil quirk one may notice. An example would be the lack of true acidity in a 303 ish clone app. U dig?...
For importing into Caustic I just use Open In from AudioShare. Caustic needs an update to directly access AS however. Copy/Paste works. Caustic 3.2 is currently in early beta. An iOS beta should be out soon. That should sort it all out. New features in Caustic look really interesting.
Thanks Samu

Check out YouTube or Soundcloud for Caustic tunes. Or register on the Caustic site and check out what is there. You can also download free PC and OSX versions of Caustic. The bass machine is good but the only way you can get that true 303 sound is Rebirth or Texhnobox IMHO. On YouTube look for tunes by lawffect.
I started learning Caustic a few weeks ago the track below was test track I did seems on par with other app.
Hey liked that, thanks for sharing.
Much as I appreciate @hacked_to_pieces dubby goodness above, I think your 'thin' notion is about right as regards Caustic (for me). I like it's flow/ease of use, but I have to work much harder to get Gadget quality sounds out of it (for example)....
Yeah thanks for the track, and I did DL the mac version. IS it lite or did I just get caustic for free on my macbook?! Too good to be true.
About the track, see I think u were going for a more minimal(thin ish) vibe. So its hard to tell the end result. Sometimes you can do mastering and compression to fatten it up...
A guy named laweffect did a song on FL Studio and Caustic and to my ear Caustic sounded much better. Bigger bottom and a warmer sound. It's on YouTube. I never compared Caustic to Gadget because I just never got anything out of Gadget so I don't use it. FWIW
Ok not to go too far off but whats the info of cauldulus > Spelled wrong. But it looks like a baseline 303 ish thing with wist... Any quick notes on that?
I believe the biggest reason for this is that presets don't save effects. Each synth needs to include effects that are saved with the patch. The effects need to be by-passable, so that those who don't want or use them won't complain. The sounds that come from Gadget are already patched with their own effects. This is an essential part of the sound, and while sound designers will have no problem using the insert effects that are available, hacks like me like to have the full patch, rather than the dry patch. :-) With effects added, the patches sound much fuller, much better. :-)
Plausible Captain.
