Diode-108 update, midi broken :(

Sadly MIDI in from external sequencer is broken. (BSP)

The best sequencing drums, I'm bummed out...

Comments

  • Yep tried with Metronom and it's broken.

  • F*CK..... what about internally syncing to Cubasis - it's one of the only drum machines that does it well

iOS 9, but I am not sure it makes any difference...
Don't update. It was fine until now.
I sequence it with BSP, it's one of the best drum machines for being sequenced externally, so I'm even more bummed out because out of the whole lot of drum machines, only 2 can be sequenced. iElectribe is the other.

  • FWIW, the new MIDI out feature doesn't work either. iOS 9.

yes, weird. diode does not send note-off messages apparently which, depending on instrument, can create unwanted effects

NO workaround: the FREE Diode -108 has been updated...

  • Which version has the problems?

My App Store updates is offering me V1.40 dated 11 October...

    ...which I haven't updated - hopefully a good thing?

I'm sure I updated it pretty recently though?

  • The paying version is updated. This morning. Previous version is fine=Version 1.3.4 Sep 01 '15 ...But if you didn't update, don't do it

The free version is Version 1.3.3 Aug 07 '15. and works fine, imports samples and you can save kit. That's all I tried.

  • Looks like I'm in luck :-) thanks guys

  • where is @Diode108?
weren't they very active on this forum just a little while ago?

    @DIODE-108...where are you.???

Is it possible to revert to previous version? Anybody knows how?

PS. the free version is useless too now, auto updated...:(

He was, I guess he skipped town...and as you have it, it's the ONLY drum machine that has 16 pads and can be externally synced, sequenced and midi notes assigned...

    *Someone please prove me wrong

  • I haven't had the chance to test in detail yet, but MIDI in and out seem to be functioning with Diode-108 on my Air 2, iOS 8.4.1.

  • The developer has been very busy, there have been no new Beta releases with fixes in the past 2 or 3 weeks. I have a feeling more will come soon from the Diode-108 team. I am a beta tester waiting for a new release :)

  • Not sure why MIDI in and out would be broken for anyone. MIDI is a trial on the iPad. The latest version (to support MIDI out) started using the MIDIBus library for some pieces, so there was code that changed. Please send email to [email protected] so we can try to resolve this. :-/

Heh. No need to worry. :-) I'm supposed to get emails when Diode is mentioned on the Audiobus forums. Maybe that's broken? I'll check.

Dunno if anyone else has mentioned it, but would you be able to stop the splash screen displaying when we switch apps? It's a bit of a drag when nipping backwards and forwards in a Auria/FX chain. Cheers :)

  • Bought it anyway.

You know the saying: if it ain't broke don't fix it...

It was really working perfectly, easy fix would be to revert to previous version:-)

i second this, it's so minor and yet so major.

  • We're taking a look at this during this weekend. Sorry. Day job's crunch has interfered.

Nothing much we can do about the splash screen without a huge rewrite, as it covers up initialization of OpenGL.

  • Great to see you back here @Diode108!

It would be great if you found a solution to the midi problems but if they are too time consuming to fix quickly, I would be quite happy with a re-release of the previous version. Or you could even just share the .ipa of the previous maybe?

  • We'll try to figure out remedies. The problem with reverting is that there were other fixes in that release. I understand the frustration. Sorry about that!
