I can understand Apple stopping the purchase of uncared for apps, but to stop you downloading apps you previously purchased, pure Apple.

This is apparently not the case. The apps will just be removed from the storefront (i.e. you can't buy them any longer). Existing users will have access to apps they have previously bought.

Here's an excerpt from Apple's communication to me as a developer regarding the changes:

If my app is removed, will current users be able to access my app?
Yes. Your app will remain fully functional for current users. They will experience no interruption to services and will still be able to buy in-app purchases. However, we recommend that you update your app as soon as possible to reinstate it on the App Store and ensure that it remains functional and engaging for new and existing customers.

  • well, recently a number of apps have disappeared entirely, are no longer downloadable for people who bought them

    Functional yes, but downloadable ?

Apple does not do remote-deletion of apps on your device, so Occam's Razor tells me that "access" means "downloadable".

I would admire your certitude but am too busy adjusting my foil hat.

Yes from your device or backup from a computer, but no mention of downloading the app from the AppStore, only IAP's.

I took all the iMPC samples with iFunbox...dropboxed them. @DaveMagoo - surely they are working on some of these things, which is why prob haven't heard from them much. Also AB can't be updated a bunch because some updates require the apps to updates the SDK so that try to do as much at once instead of pushing new updates every month

Do you still have the Impc samples available? I've been trying to get them without having to resample then one by one but I believe iOS 9 killed any chance of ripping them.

  • Launchkey!

  • Since it sadly looks like BeepStreet are abandoning their most excellent apps Impaktor and Sunrizer there would be a great opportunity for @brambos to build some AU versions, especially of Impaktor, or something similar along those lines with audio trigger inputs and MIDI In/Out/Learn etc. I think that would make a great 3rd AU in the ruismaker series  !

  • Abandoning Sunrizer!?

    Abandoning Sunrizer!?

Last update was July 2014, so... I hope it will be maintained but I wouldn't bet on it. We'll see if there will be an update for AB3 and iOS 10 when they become available.

It's like someone has suggested that cheese has been abandoned or tea. Most upsetting notion.

  • Sorry, I know... I could do without tea, though. Cheese, on the other hand, no way! What would life be without cheese?

Heard from the developers, cheese is updated to pizza and tea to coffee :o

  • From my own experience if you've downloaded an app then it's in your purchased library even after its removed from the store (barring any massive violation like inappropriate content or copyright infringement). So I think we should be okay.

  • I left FL mobile sleeping in the cloud just after getting it (the UI did not met my tastes). Recently I stumbled upon some tracks made by it, ,,, and I had to reconsider. It is really a fine app, and fun to use.
Also, I find the apps Rudess endorses, and/or put his hands into, generally fine ones. I own Geosynth, Geoshreds and HarmonyWiz. The last one is IMHO, one of the most never-spoken-of musical apps. It'd deserve more love

from my experience, since relatively recently this is no longer the case. several apps that I purchased are no longer downloadable.

If a developer doesn't renew his license his/ her apps disappear from your purchase list, too and are no longer downloadable.
Sometimes/ lately the store has hicups or glitches and purchases are hard to find though.

But like chimp_spanner stated, most apps should still be downloadable even if they are not for sale in the store.

that may be one reason, but some devs are also removing their apps to promote new versions. it used to be that you could still download the app you bought, but that is no longer the case since recently.

  • Some of my favourite apps Nanostudio, Caustic, iSequencer HD and Sunrizer haven't received updates for a long time.

  • Caustic is on beta for looooong time. There might be a chance the devs wait for iOS 10.

  • If NanoStudio would do IAA or at least MIDI out I'd be happy. The sequencer and note editing is really good.

Also yeah Caustic just feels like it's waiting to be great haha. I'd love note lanes in the arranger alongside patterns. Never been a fan of pattern/scene based programming,

  • Let's add Pro Midi in the list :/

  • Photophore and Flection

    Great news!!

  • Anything from 4Pockets.com

  • N-Track Studio?

  • NLogSynth Pro?

  • Today (sept. 7th) Apple starts reviewing all apps for potential removal. Details of the program here: https://developer.apple.com/support/app-store-improvements/

  • edited September 2016

I think there's a difference between apps that still work fine but haven't been updated in a ages and those that don't work anymore.

NlogSynth pro seems to still work fine.
