ToneStack V2 Overdrive rhythm guitar demo
Demo of a selection of overdriven rhythm guitar tones from the new version of ToneStack, using the 'Apex' and 'Bourbon Neat' distortion pedals. (no noise gates)
(variations of the riff from Ted Nugent's 'Stranglehold')

Cool, sounds great. The sounds and the playin.
I still prefer BIas FX and JamUp, for anything metal. But, TS is top dog for FX and most other stuff.
Cheers !
Just to show that there isn't a huge difference between ToneStack and Bias, here's another demo with similar tones (riff played a bit more 'straight' this time)
I read here many comments about ToneStack sounding 'thin' or Bias sounding much better (or the opposite )
The point of this demo is to show that they're really both really good for an overdriven hard / heavy rock rhythm guitar tones. Saying that, I found you've got to get the right combination of distortion pedal / amp and cabinet, some of them together sound pretty weak / fizzy. These tones / presets came from a fair bit of experimentation.
I should say that I prefer ToneStack.
No arguments here @ Igneous1.
Rock, mellow, Hard Rock, Heavy Rock, Nu-Rock, Rock Rock. It all sounds really good in Tone Stack. For sure.
When I play Metal, ie....... Thrash like Old Metallica, Testament, Megadeth, Slayer....... Nothing compares to JamUp or Bias FX. Plus, it is easy to dial in a tone, at least for me within seconds. I have tried with Ampkit, Amplitude, Tone Stack, THM Overloud plug-in, and I can get somewhat close, but even close takes quite a bit of messing and tweaking.
I guess, Amp One is pretty slick at Metal Tones as well, Easy to achieve.
I am in no way saying that I don't enjoy TS. Or that it doesn't sound good. Quite the opposite. The FX in it are Top Notch and incredible sounding.
The tone isn't grabbing me. These presets sound too cold and fuzzy and for me and is something to avoid, but I'm after tube tone as much as possible. I haven't found the perfect tone yet either using iPad apps, and I've tried a lot of different combinations of apps, convo reverb, EQ, you name it. Using JamUp is probably the closest I've come. I like Bias too, but it's such a resource hog it's barely useable on my iPad 4. Keep on tweaking though!
@High5denied
Cheers for the comments, have you checked out the 'Headbanger' distortion pedal in ToneStack V2 ?
@Coloobar
Fair points, but bear in mind these demos are at their most 'naked' (so to speak), with other effects and a full backing track going on they might fit better. I feel the same about almost all the Desktop guitar amp.cab modelling stuff out there.
Dude, that's pure tone there. I love it! Are those Lace sensors in that strat?
Could you share that mp3? Would like to use it as my ring tone. Thanks in advance.
@Musikman4Christ
Cheers ! Have just made that track download-able. Yes they are ancient Lace Sensors (Gold, I think), the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck model.
Thanks man!
I love the Lace sensors, I got the hot gold Lace sensors in my strat too!
By the way, how do you download from soundcloud?
