App Store Problems
The App Store has been having issues downloading apps and updates. Some downloads stall and at times I've resorted to deleting apps to install them. Haven't been able to identify any sort of pattern to this but it's been going on since the iOS 9 update came out. Sometimes I can turn off and restart the stalled app download by clicking on its icon.

Yes, you are not alone. Hope that helps, cause there's no rhyme or reason to it on the consumer side of things.
Yeah, it's a bit of a mess at the moment
The 'mess' is mostly related to the new app-thinning as it's the 'pre-thinned' apps that cause problems (mostly visible when downloading apps to iTunes on the computer). I've had no issues downloading apps on the iOS devices.
I'm thinking Apple servers are running in over-drive re-packaging the device-specific versions of the apps for faster distribution and the full pre-thinned version is not yet done causing the 404 error when trying to download them.
Since I'm always downloading full version of the apps to iTunes, hopefully the apps that are 'thinned' will be 'slimmed' when syncing the iOS devices saving precious space on the devices.
At least some of the 'larger' games take less space on my iPad since there are no longer duplicate graphics resources, sweet
I don't wanna land on mars.I just wanna be able to download chordpolypad again - which
is impossible for weeks now...!
What's app thinning?
Don't upset him. He my give you a "Vulcan Death Grip"?............ Or a " Mind Meld"?......
It's Apples way of optimising the app for the device it's running on.
(The code is optimised for the CPU in the device and only the needed graphics resources get installed).
So on a 'retina' iPad the @2 graphics resources get installed (no need for the @1 (iPhone 4/iPad Mini 1st gen) and @3 (6/6s+) if i recall it correctly. Code is also optimised for the CPU in the device (A4,A5,A6,A7,A8/A8X, A9 etc.). 32-Bit devices get no 64-bit code and vice versa.
In theory it should result in a smoother user experience and not also use less storage on the device.
Ah, interesting. Thanks.
I'm glad you asked!
TestFlight won't install the test app now.
I got a different problem with Apple store...
While back I bought Bismarck Bs-16i. Since it had problems I got refund and deleted the app...
Now I want to buy it again, but I get a message: re download impossible with this ID because it was refunded or canceled...So what?
WTF? Is Apple punishing me for returning an app that didn't work and now when it's fixed I am not allowed to buy it?
EDIT: So I called Apple assistance, not a problem but a policy...LOL... Wise Apple doesn't think that I should buy the app again since I returned it...
Meanwhile it got updated...So the are actually punishing the developer.
Still the same old story, I guess, but for anyone having trouble finding updates that don't display in the new AppStore on iOS11 a pull down on the update page refreshes the list of updates, as if by magic the updates appeared.
I’m still seeing apps update two or three days after release. The store actually tells me that a given app was out, let’s say, two days ago. But I can only ever see this when the App Store allows. Swiping down does nothing.
Me too. Most of the updates mentioned on here I don’t see for at least three days on my iPhone running 11, yet no problems at all on the iPad with 10. The search facility is next to useless for me too, and I have to track apps down by other means.
The broken, ugly, crap new Store is one of the main reasons I’m keeping the iPad on 10, for now at least.
I went to 11 hoping it would help my previously documented hardware issues - which it has, not cured but slowed - and for screen recording. That, too, has been useful ‘cause I can record a problem happening, which in turn helps a developer to spot what needs to be fixed.
The App Store, though, is awful. It looks like My Little Pony land, finding stuff has been made more difficult, we are required to drill down then back again just to see previous purchases, and the Wish List is no more.
Someone at Cupertino - likely a team of people - sat in an office and actually thought this shit was good!
I haven't seen it on the iPad, but it's next to useless on my phone. It's a shame as I want the 'dock' feature, but I don't want to sacrifice the old store layout.
I used to work as senior designer for a few big corporates, and quite a large chunk of my day was fighting Sales Directors and other idiots pushing their opinions into the mix and screwing up good, usable, accessible designs. Fortunately we had a 'profitability matrix' team (they weren't called this, don't think they actually had a name) that would record and point out how many millions had been lost each day when they did this, so the changes were reversed. But still they came back with their fag packet suggestions....
I wasn't getting the update displayed for navichord, when I swiped down and held for the refresh dial, navichord and about 6 other updates appeared, I know the AppStore is up the creek, but this at least displayed apps that had updates, that I know of, that should have been pending.
