We are very pleased to announce the release of Cubasis LE for iPad.
Cubasis LE is the condensed version of Steinberg’s streamlined, multitouch sequencer for the iPad, providing the same look and feel of its bigger brother Cubasis.
Cubasis LE has been specially designed for quick and easy operation, making recording, editing and mixing a breeze.
Song ideas can be captured with up to four audio and four MIDI tracks and edited and polished to perfection with the integrated editors, mixer and selected effects.
With MicroSonic, Cubasis LE includes a virtual instrument to be played in real time using the flexible virtual keyboard. Cubasis LE projects can be even exported to Cubase as well, both under Windows and OS X.

This may be a dumb question, but can anyone specify exactly what you can do with this if you don't have a compatible hardware interface?
That sounds great for me. On my phone at the moment so I can't see the price but did the world just get a free Cubasis demo essentially? Obviously different limitations but people can get a feel for the basic workflow, main screens, piano roll...?

Cubasis is clearly aimed as an added value to owners of compatible hardware.
If not unlocked, Cubasis LE runs in demo mode and is limited to playback a demo song and browse through the app areas.

I should probably follow that link you included but I hope you don't mind if I just ask before downloading it... When you say "limited to playback" do you mean the buttons and editors are entirely blocked or do you mean that you can't save? I'm not interested in the LE version per se but have long been interested in the full Cubasis. I've read enough complaints to keep me from tapping 'buy now' and would love a chance to find out for myself without dropping the money for the full version.
Will downloading LE without a compatible interface allow me to interact with it to get a sense of how the full Cubasis works? Like, add tracks, edit in the piano roll, experiment with effects... Even if only with the demo song?
If not, please register a vote for that from me.

As stated before, unless unlocked with a compatible hardware device (CC-capable UR interfaces, selected Yamaha and Line 6 interfaces and a couple of 3rd party devices that will grow) Cubasis LE runs in full demo mode, allowing you to playback a demo song and browse through the app areas.
Besides we have released lots of tutorial videos available and there are lots of additionals available from users also.

Will Cubasis LE get identical updates to the full version? That is, if I buy the full IAP upgrade, will it get updates at the same time as the full version? Or should I just spend the extra €20 and get the full version?

i downloaded it and tried it. at least was able to view the interface on my ipad and tap a few things. deleted 10mins later however.
