Using Logic with Ableton Live

Hello everybody. I'm interested in perusing Logic again after the Alchemy update but I want to use it with Ableton. I've found on the Google it is easy to set up a Live retire slave but a Logic slave is a little more work. I found a video on how to do it. Has anyone tried using Logic and Live together? Thanks.

  • I don't know about using Logic as a slave to Live, but it's really easy to export audio regions from Logic, which can then be imported as clips in Live. So you could set it up as Live being a slave to Logic, to hear the output together when composing, but then just export from Logic to Live if you want to use Live as you final destination point.

  • @1P18 Thanks that's a good point about exporting audio regions. When I think about it it is about composing in Live but I think you would want to end up in Logic with its advanced audio editing. It has been a bit of a disappointment in Live.

  • Logic and Mainstage don't work as a rewire slave, only master.

But you can route MIDI out from Live to Logic and audio (via Soundflower) in the opposite direction. Here's a good tutorial: http://www.ryanbrink.com/live-music-part-2-audio-and-midi-routing/

  • @yug Thanks. Have you any experience using them in unison? Do they sync well?
