Non iOS Now But This Kontakt Synth May Be Coming to iOS

I made a demo for this new Kontakt instrument called ORBIT a few days ago, it was not posted here because it's not iOS, however one of the people who make it posted this comment on our website

Thanks Doug! We really appreciate your thoughts.
We have some awesome new music demos at http://www.WideBlueSound.com as well.
And possibly an iOS surprise coming…

Anyway for anyone interested in checking it out here's the link to the post

  • Would be cool. I would like to see Apple relax the memory use cap and let Devs go wild. Apple could help music by releasing the full version of Alchemy on iOS, with all the GBs of extra sounds too. Some would buy new iPads just to use a few full blown instruments even if they used most of a 128 GB models drive space.

Apple want a reason for people to upgrade, make it so.......

  • I think even the full version of this sits within the memory allowance, there are already bigger Apps than this, so it should work OK

  • You should do an extended demo of the new UVI mega-synth, Falcon i think (maybe we can all mailbomb UVI to send you a promo copy?). By the time I have the money the price is gonna be $350 & I need some assurance.

  • I'll ask them, we'll see what they say eh

  • Nice one..... and indeed.... Falcon is a beast! Played with it a lot and already started to create a patch bank for it ;)

  • I'm Interested in the Falcon too.

  • OK, so UVI gave me Falcon, it's massive and as far as I can tell, depending on the power of your computer, limitless in it sound design potential, seriously, I'll get a demo done ASAP

    Good luck!

Great to hear... it is really an awesome tool! I love it really after the first week. Sound design is a (nearly) limitless joy with it!

  • I'm a sucker for granular.

  • It does everything, granular, wave table, analog, FM Sampleing, really everything, and you can stack it however you want, three wave tables, an analog, a couple of fm's, all for one key or mapped however you like, you can set the velocity to trigger more oscillators the harder you hit the key, it's mad

But it can´t do resynthesis ; ) .....(and lacks here and there a bit) but the sum of all the parts together is just awesome. You can drop and drag wavetables (from Serum, Dune 2, wav, even pictures) easy in the wavetable OSC. You can drop also any wav (even several minutes long) into the convolver and/or IR reverb...... and a lot more!
This is maybe the ultimate workstation combined into one very useful UI! Love it!!

What's the ARP Voyage preset like on the CPU?

Not as much as my own patches ;) But it´s one of the more hungry patches from the default ones. It depends of course of the polyphony (up to 256) and things like the X-pander filter or huge sparkverbs are hungry too.
There is always a price for "limitless" tools!
I got about 30% cpu when playing this patch (but the polyphony is over 30 then). On an i7 haswell 2.0ghz, on 1024 samples. But Logic is a bitch too lately so i play with Bitwig demo now too. Also Abelton Live.... but it´s not so my thing.
This thing can make patches from 100 instances possible to one which will burn your cpu down.
There is only one software which beat them all in cpu usage.... Kaleidoscope.

Similar spec on Windows 8.1 1024 samples 60% cpu in the stand-alone and Ableton, yet in Reaper and Task Manager about 15-18%. Like its reporting 1 core.
