Beats all messed up in Gadget

My beats are all messed up in korg Gadget since the latest update. It's more noticeable on tracks with faster BPMs. It sounds like there has been way too much swing added, even when the swing values are at 0. I'm on Air 1 iOS 8.4.1. Anyone else come across this?

  • I'm sure your senses are more finely tuned to rhythms than mine, but I've not noticed that myself. Do the beats look wonky on the grid or is it just sounding swingy on playback?

  • It looks fine on the grid. They are quite busy beats but sounded fine before I updated. Now they just sound sloppy. I might try to re-do the sequences. How long did it take you to buy gadget? I'd love to hear some stuff you have done with it :-)

  • I haven't used it so much yet, but once the performance issues with Air 2 were sorted, it seemed silly not to get it! I haven't had much chance to create music this past half year, but I'm hoping to get back to it more again now.

Good luck fixing your beats. Seems strange, but yeah, hopefully recording them again will solve it. Which Gadget are the beats in? I just had an idea that if they're chopped up samples, maybe the sample start points got askew? That could easily mess with the groove.

  • Went back to some of my old beats and I'm of the same thinking as the original poster. Seems something has changed since update.

  • Wow... that would be seriously bad news...

I have about 2 years of stuff in Gadget!

    Hope they fix it.

Is it the very latest update we're talking about (the one where they bouhgt out the new whirly in Module a few days ago)? Not the iOS9 update previous to that ?

If so, personally I'm safe for the moment because I haven't updated yet. (Im seriously paranoid about updating gadget!)

Thing I don't get, is it does not seem to be all my saves. I have had to redownload before after an update. I would suggest if you can save to other devices before updating, it might be wise.

Doubt it's something that happens to everyone updating, as I would have thought others would have noticed.

Yep very latest update, but I'm on Air2 iOS 9.1

So is something to do with the swing function? Only effecting off beat 16th notes?

They might have introduced a bug to that - and you would only hear it in tracks that made use of swing and had hits in that position?

Or is it something else? Something more obviously up?

I partly ask because the other day I had a drum track in gadget playing along with another beat in Patterning and some other stuff and the gadget drum track sounded weirdly 'off' for some reason. It wasn't that they were out of sync (because the kick drum was in time) It was something else. But I might well have imagined it. And I don't even have the latest update...

  • My Gadget auto updated so I went through a few tracks from when this was my main songwriting app. Couldn't notice anything having changed. Certainly no swing applied where it wasn't before. I am on same iPad and iOS version.

Yes the very latest update. I have some tracks with breakbeats created in London. The double snare and bass drum hits sound really loose and off time when they were bang on before. I tried reinserting the beats but that didn't make a difference. I also though it might be CPU usage so I removed all Gadgets from the track apart from London, but that made no difference either.

  • Struggling to play two samples at the same time maybe?

Not good. You should post to that Korg forum if you have time.

  • @Oblique do you have any insert effects on the beats in London?
