I've had problems with other apps when using BT keyboard. iMini would crash when trying to type Patch name, and iM1 wouldn't let me save preset when using th BT keyboard to type name either.
These issues started when they allowed 3rd party keyboards, so something is now broke for BT keyboards I think.
I have gone back to using the onscreen keys and just use my BT keys as a stand.
Hey @Kaikoo, nice spot. It puts a plaster on it but not a fix. It did not do this before. Also not all customers will see this thread. So Waldorf (hope your reading).
But cheers for that anyways! :-)
@redskylullaby I know you made an early snapshot of this....now it's back, kinda sorta, do you imagine using it now and then? Thoughts?
Definitely needs a core midi update. doesn't respond at the moment as it should, works with some things not with others. it was promiscuous before and now it's gone the other way and is a bit too shy.
Ahhhh, so nice to be able to use midi properly with Attack now! So good!
Thanks for the heads up. I never noticed it with other apps before. I'm happy that Attack just works now. Definitely going to replace a couple drums apps on my Ipad.
I downloaded the update before work this morning, but didn't have a chance to look into it. Can anyone comment on how it deals with midi channels? Or does it not respond to channel/note messages at all, and just clock/transport?
For me the midi implementation is very confusing at the moment. The selected sound option seems to work as you'd expect. The Attack Drums A and Attack Drums B seem to be very inconsistent as sometimes I can get both to work and other times they don't or only one and the manual doesn't even mention them so it needs to be updated.
Success with Attack sequenced by MTS when used w/AB, assigning midi track to Attack via MTS's Virtual Midi App route...success with Attack sequenced via Genome, recording into MTS in AB scheme. No love yet for IAA sequencing Attack via MTS.
That's strange, only works for me on drum channel 10 not on the regular channels, so can't sequence as a synth.....are you on iOS 9?
Am on Air 2 iOS 8.3
@Paul, the manual is still v1.01 and is dated June 2015, so no information regarding any updates for this version
research so far (day off to goof off)
Yep iOS 9, Air2
The Attack A and B midi routing, combined with "1-16", "17-24", and "selected" set you up for some interesting multi-timbralisms: for drums I set Attack A to "selected" and "Drums Channel 10" which lays out the 24 instruments on a single piano roll for midi notes sent on 10, and I set Attack B to "17-24" (Drum channel not selected), and sent note on midi channel 1, which corresponds to instrument 17 in Attack, (channel 2 to instrument 18, 3 to 19 and so on). This using AB and Genomes sequencer, audio into MTS
MTS tracks multiple audio outs, and sends midi separately to Attack A and B, so I assume this will work without Genome as mediator, that's the next experiment.
That's good.....For me it's not responding to any midi I send to Attacks A or B port....It's only working for apps which send to virtual ports. such as Patterning sending out to Patterning port. In Attack I can then select Patterning to receive from and it works, sort of. But also strangely there's a delay of a few seconds before the midi is picked up. and when I stop Patterning it's a few seconds before Attack stops.
Anyone else getting this weirdness on iOS 8?
multi timbrality not happening in MTS, though it's possible to sequence and record the 24 instruments as a drum kit across the piano roll. This using the Virtual midi app send in MTS, channel 10 "selected notes", AB
@Carnbot
I'm getting that weirdness in 9, if I change routing for midi, Attack notes I played on MTS keys playback from Attack after a silence....
Ipad 4, iOS 9.1, the velocity change buttons are nonfunctional, stuck on Hard. The quick velocity alteration was one of my favorite features, too.
Edit: Well I can change it on the Pattern page but the buttons from the Sound page are busted.
Agree, same here on Air1 or Air2.
I'm very happy I never purchased this. A lady knows how to be patient.
But frankly speaking, Attack now are truely functional. The looper really fix it all on its own. A totoally workable environment itself. So I wouldn't getting upset. By far this is the most advanced app.
Not getting anything from xynthesizr to Attack...
It has a lot of depth, but am interested to see what folks actually make with it....
Navichord works great here. Many others sequncers are not.
I am so glad to have this app up and running again. It is awesome.
Yes superb app, just needs a bit of midi surgery
@Carnbot
So, where are you really finding your money's worth?
@JohnnyGoodyear Attack is capable of some great sounds - a tweaker's delight, you can paste in your own samples and use as oscillators. Of course you have the text to vocoder synthesis and the drum, patterns and songs etc., Yep, I like this one a lot
Ah yes, the vocoder....been so long I had done forgotten. Could swear Tweaker's Delight were a party band of some ill-repute way back when...
I will prob use it if I ever get motivated to actually do some music, it is pretty deep in terms of what you can do. Elastic Drums and Impaktor are more immediate and intuitive but Attack has lots of going on and is not too tricky once you figure out the interface.
@JohnnyGoodYear Attack can layer the same drum sound more than twice, tweaking a bit of knobs to thicken your drum in a way professional can satisfy he/her objectives.
For the novice, this is most integrated environment to simplifying a song production. There is no other platform to be such simple to realize a song's micro structures, particularlly designed for modern dance track. No hassle to fill the grids on pattern loops.
So much under one roof great using as a 24 track multi timbral sound module for sequencers, drum machines etc
I also have Stroke machine which I like a lot and is from the same DNA but somehow isn't as easy to get into as Attack for me, although admittedly I've not spent as much time with it. Attack has a lot more ready made kits and sounds to start tinkering with.
