    Mybad

  • I will take this opportunity to repost my Preaching post.....

And the sky would be blood red with battle. Windows and OS/2 would tear the skies a sunder. Windows would doth the stolen mantle of GUI and low and behold become the dragon. The dragon would scorch the earth of mankind.

Windows 3.1 begat Windows 95. Windows 95 begat Windows 98. Windows 98 begat Windows ME and the world did cry. Windows ME begat Windows XP and the world rejoiced as DOS was banished from the lands. Windows XP begat Windows Vista and the world did laugh and cry. Windows Vista begat Windows 7 and the world breathed once more. And onto us Windows RT was born in swaddling cloths but did hide the sign of the devil 666.

Onto us the Lord did deliver us his only begotten son iOS and the world did rejoice and the Lord forgave us our sins with cheap app prices. The Lord delivered onto us the book of iPad and iPhone so that we would be able to live under his commandments:

I am the Lord thy Apple

Thou shalt not have no other Gods before mine iDevice

Thou shalt not unto thee use any graven Windows

Thou shalt not take thy Lord God Apples name in vain

Remember the keynote day, keep it holy

Honour thy iPad and thy iPhone.

    Thou shalt not blue screen.

Thou shalt not use USB on my devices.

Thou shalt not steel my patents.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against my missing file system.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours Surface Pro.

And onto the Lord Apple we did bow down and a watchful eye was kept for the ways of the devil and we did burn any of his followers and we became the chosen of the Lord.

Don't give me no lines and keep your hands to yourself...........................

    Unless it's not a line and it's a line.

  • Solitude is a hard won ally.

  • Vacuum is not nothing

  • Apparently, nature abhors these things.

  • And poor lowly Windows 2000 was left out in the cold to die, alone, bereft, ... the last Windows to run in under 4MB.

I just got a DOS/Win98 machine up and running to use Voyetra Sequencer+ Gold again. :) I went with 98 to make some things easier (like access easy access to USB/CDROM for file transfer) but boot to directly to DOS in all of its command line mouseless glory. So far, pretty dreamy!

I wouldn't want to go back to live there, but I actually loved Win 98 as much as one can or might.

The only thing I miss is trying to dock my space craft in wire frame graphics.

I was inspired to re-investigate Voyetra DOS after coming across a few of this guys videos. Because, holy shit.

This one shows more of the absurd keyboard speed. I'm not sure it's even possible to move this quickly with a mouse or a touch screen.

He a) has the sounds/tracks set up first, b) has been using Voyetra since the late 80s and c) has been programming MIDI music professionally since the early 90s. So... I'll never be even 1/2 as fast. Or a 1/4! But that's ok. I just like having a dedicated MIDI sequencer that fast and simple to operate. It almost feels like dedicated hardware. I guess it is, come to think of it, since I don't use it for anything else.

I'm still muddling through the keyboard shortcuts (I used it for several years but it was over two decades ago!) but it is sort of amazing how much faster I can lay something down in it than I can in any other MIDI sequencer after just a week or so. It has zero frills getting in the way but still has deep editing/manipulation capabilities.

Mind, I earn a living spending all day in a text editor that doesn't employ the mouse so I'm already sort of bent in that direction—hate moving my hand off the keyboard to mouse around. Anyway, going to give VSG a solid month or two to see how it well it really gels into my workflow but so far so good.

@syrupcore Love this Professor. It's not even retro, just a comfortable or efficient personal method for arranging noise without having to consider the coolness of the splashscreen etc. Bach would have loved himself some Voyetra (apart from the burning at the stake part for having such relative wizardry...).

  • The 4th or 5th comment from the middle of these comments is funny but true.

You mean the 4th one from the 2nd?

    The 2nd middle, yeah.

  • Is it the 2nd middle from your first comment, or 2nd middle from your 2nd comment lol

Yes! This is why I said it's the 4th or 5th.

  • But if each comment pushes it once, won't the comment between your first comment and your 2nd comment have changed one more from the initial 4th or 5th? Lol

  • The fucking middle one!

  • I was just going to say similar.

The middle has now moved so we're looking at maybe 7th or 8th.

  • After reading it, I'm sure you will ALL agree with what I said originally.

  • From top or bottom? Lol

Yeah, read it from the top.

  • Left or right.....I don't want to assume it's not in code...

    I'm not sure, I didn't write it.

  • In fact, I think that the comment really and truly captured the real essence of the topic.
