  • Your very welcome Flo, and mine and Jo's heart felt sympathy for you and all people of France

  • Top Jobby! Or is it Jobbie? Never quite certain. But brilliant all the same....for the record I object to their font use but in the context that's probably the definition of a first world problem etc etc.

  • I like the growl you can add with modulation

  • Sounds great! Can't wait to get all Tower of Power when this comes out:

  • I'll be keeping my eye on this one, been looking for ages for something that will let me add decent sounding brass, without copious amounts of controller editing, to my Ska tracks. Perhaps this will be it :)

  • @AndyPlankton May not be the authentic Tower of Power but I've found ifretless Brass to be pretty good.

  • Also Sampletank has got not to bad Horns, as well as Thumbjam.

I'll check the demo vids on this one. Not tried it yet.

I tried both of these in the past, ThumbJam gave quite good results, but it took a lot of work playing and programming individual parts for each instrument in the ensemble.

What I like about this new one is that from Doug's demo it looks like you can play with keys and use velocity and modulation to get the dynamics of the whole brass ensemble, nice and lazy....er I mean simple :)

    Cheers for the info peeps.

  • I understand. It took a bit of work to get some realistic horn, when I making Reggae Dub.

I just watched Doug's vid on this, now I want to spend £16 on iFretless Brass and iFretless Sax so I can blend the two to get a Ska ensemble :) Baritone and Alto sax, Trombone and trumpet. Damn you :)

  • Wait for Black Friday. You never know that iFretless may do a special. In a couple of weeks I think?

I think if you want the ensemble sound then ifretless Brass is a better bet than the sax, although truth be told I use the Sax more (and for more than I thought I would). I like it/them because they bypass the well-known (by me) cheapsleazecheese horn factor...

Good shout !....Puts wallet in drawer, locks draw, hides key. Puts calendar reminder in phone for Black Friday with key location :)

College Funds all over the America are quivering in fear of the hit they are about to take....

  • YeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww!!!

  • I like the idea of this. About a year ago I was looking for exactly such a thing. The problem for me with this is the note decay sounds really artificial and not at all like actual brass. Maybe since this is a demo version, the dev is still tweaking things and the actual product is going to sound better. Kontakt Komplete has a module called Session Horns that sounds far better.

  • @lCollobar, I love comments like that, it really did make me smile, in a good way, Session Horns, instrument for Kontakt, 30 gig and $380

There's a non-pro version for $99 and 3.5 gig. Anyway, I'm optimistic Crudebyte can improve on the realism of the app. iSymphonic has made huge leaps in quality since it was first released.

True... but all the Crudebyte apps together cost more than i paid for the full Sample Tank 3 desktop version.
This is where the money in iOS sums up....

What I like about dedicated apps like this over a generic sampler/rompler is that they help to take care of all the programming needed to get realistic expression from the sounds, freeing the user to play and not get bogged down in trying to control 4 or more CC's in order to get a realistic sound. That is where their value is.
