Best CASE and or STAND for iPad Musicians?
This is a "best case scenario" - what do you consider to be the best stand or case for iPad musicians, using Audiobus, etc?
Sturdy construction is suggested, because gigs ( audience and musicians! ) can be unpredictable.
Also, said coverings cannot block the Camera Connection Kit which a lot of us are using for MIDI / Audio interfacing,
and should not block a standard 1/8 audio cable ( some cases actually require an extra narrow cable, like the iPhone earbuds have )
Take a "stand" for what you believe. ;-)
examples - Otterbox, Griffin Survivor, iKlip, Hosa GBX, iBalls etc.

It sounds like your already know the usual suspects. I use the iKlip Studio and love it. Simple, sturdy, effective, and compact when you need to travel. Doesn't block any ports. It sits high enough to work as a music stand behind my keystation as well.
Iklip 2 is shipping now with landscape and portrait orientation.
I was going to say I think they just released version 2 of iKlip ....I'm so late to the game today
I use both IK iKlip and Ultimate HyperPad.
iKlip is a good solution, its tight and secure. The new version has more angle possibilities.
HyperPad is also very good, and more flexible than iKlip, with its gooseneck and 5 options for mounting. But it's not as tight and if you use iRig MIDI you have to let one end opened, without the locking piece. CCK fits, but it's not an easy job, unless you use the "opened" side for it. Of course, with the iPad 4 and its new connector, you have to buy the adaptor. In this case you can use the locking piece and everything will be fine.
I use a Zagg bluetooth keyboard/stand/case and sometimes I use a tiny art aisle. The Zagg is good cause the bluetooth keyboard can control some apps like Loopy and JamUp.

@VJFranz - Sorry, one quick question related but OT - Just curious what your live setup is along with which apps (including VJ apps) you use. I've got a few possible gigs planned in a few months and I'd also like to have some VJ apps running (including the excellent Cybergoth and Radarhead) but have no clue how to do visuals. I believe Vjay (same dev as djay) has one that syncs to music but i havent tried it. Any apps that sync to music for that matter.
I am using two of these for quite some time now, they seem to be sturdy enough so far, you can turn them any direction rotation-wise, or left-right, and they can be used as a tablestand as well. Also just 20 €, a little larger than the pad, but that suits my intentions (also have a small Interface placed on top, while playing):

It's a german site, but is multilingual, choosable at the top.
Tey also have an "Adam Hall SMS14" for 20€, but that one I haven't used... .
Greetings, animal
I recently bought a second K&M holder. I like its sturdiness while you still can move the thing. For rotation, it can be put into landscape and portrait orientation. Not cheap, but good, and proven in many different situations.

@animal: these look like there is a clip that blocks the external adapter socket - if so how do you get around that? if not what am I seeing wrongly in their images
@gjcyrus Message me with VJ questions if you wish, be specific about what you'd like to achieve. In short, any visual oriented app ( like "Cybergoth", thanks for mention! Other styles of visual are planned, app wise. ) can be used with an iDevice's optional "dock to VGA adaptor" and attached to a projector for interesting results. ( of course, that prevents other use of that port! Certainly wish for more ports per pad... )
RE: Gear - I have a lot of hardware audio and VJ boxes - many KORG, various others.
I really like portability, which is why am here on this forum, and in doing reviews, I see that everything is now evolving in two separating directions: 1. Software with Controller 2. New Analog Hardware
RE: iKlip - did I read somewhere that those were made of easily breakable plastic?
Metal is what Id prefer to buy.
@VJFranzK the Iklip is made of plastic but very durable. I have had mine for a year with no issues. I would imagine metal against metal might be another issue.
@dwarman: I guess you're talking about the DockConnection?, if so, the clips are movable by unscrewing in the back (there's three "lanes", top, middle, bottom where you can move the clips).
I have input (headphone) and output (dockconnector) plugged in at the same time, so it's no problem.
Greetings, animal
There are tons of cases out there! I personally dont like the feel of plastic cases so I had to look around a bit more for one. I bought a BUKcase for my iPad and its pretty good. It's bookbound (so looks really cool with my books) and handmade in england.
Here's a link if you're interested: www.BUKcase.co.uk
Happy hunting folks!
I've used otterbox cases on my ipad 1 and 3, and I have one preordered for the Air. I like the extra protection especially on stage.
