@gkillmaster I would look into Genome midi sequencer as you can send midi for all 16 channels, can draw in whatever CC you want, can record CC with a hardware controller or the output from other midi apps, copy, paste, and edit notes and CC in your patterns. It also allows you to draw notes in by selecting a scale. You can import and export midi files.

If you're including TC-Data on your list (it's definitely playable) I'd look at Oscilab too as you can control 6 different midi channels, and can create complex wave forms to send out to three CC per channel. You can configure where to send which channels.

wow, thank you for this. I do have Oscilab! I didn't realize that about it...

  • thanks everyone for your comments and insights. I'm taking it all in. I'm checking out everything that has been mentioned. very much appreciated...

  • Soundprism Pro.

    Why?

Because it's the best midi 'keyboard' on iPad.

It has a 4 Octave range without needing to swipe , and is smartly laid out in 3rds. Just takes a little bit of learning the layout then you're away.

By far my most used app.

I've shared this video a few times here. Really must record a new one, but this demonstrates why I love it so much.

I don't know whether it's the best (it may be), but I've been routing things through SPP a lot lately and really loving the expressiveness. It IS lovely...

MidiSequencer (now universal) step sequencer with chords and midi fx, as well as a bunch of controls for "playing" the sequencer.

If it doesn't fit in this category it will the next one.

    I'm Loving TC-Orbit BTW.

Something like Lemur has way, way more ready-made templates available online, but it sounds like the setup and custom interface creation is more difficult? I don't know if wi-fi MIDI works well with Lemur. Maybe others can compare it to MDPro.

To use Lemur in anything other than ready-made templates, you do need an understanding of some programming concepts. The main one being variables and variable scope. So definitely not for the beginner.

  • ^interesting. Good to know, I think I'll stick with MIDI Designer.

What about using Lemur over wi-fi? how does it do with that?

  • which controller I could use to control Gestrument pro.
Since Gestrument pro hasnt got "pads" I would like to have a controller that can send the note on note off with pitch similar to Gestrument Pro.

    Any recommendations?
    I trying now with Lemur

Touchscaper is another option, along similar lines of Gestrument Pro, I think.

TouchOSC (no relation to Touchscaper) has been around a long time, is along lines similar to Lemur.

The one you will not regret is midiSTEPs with midiLFOs.

midiSTEPs doesn't seem to have midi out though, hmmm. not as far as I can tell.

    Standalone?

Hit the middle tab, see below, for MIDI destinations...

And as an AUv3, you’ll obviously route the MIDI via the host...
