    @Michael Looks like we lost notifications when you've been quoted. Would be nice to have that back.

    @syrupcore - looks like the '@' is being stripped out:

    Back now
  • Hmm,

    in my case (FF 43/Windows 7 or Safari/IOS 8.3 )
    * Lists
    * don't work
    * in preview

    Also, i did not manage to 'drop' the attached picture directly into the text as in lala's posting on top of this page :/

    Can't get pictures dropped in anymore either. Probably not such a bad thing.... :)

  • @JohnnyGoodyear and @_ki To inline and image:

    • Drag an image into the editor
    • Once it's uploaded, click the little X next to the file name
    • Once it's showing only the little square thumb of the image, click the thumbnail
    • The image will insert it into the post at your cursor.

    It's odd because you can't click the thumb until you close that little name bit out but once you do, it opens back up.

    If you just want to include an image from the internetz you can do it directly in markdown. I dunno if I can type it out here but it's: exclamation mark

  • @_ki The list preview thing is a Vanilla bug. You just have to trust it. :) Though, because of markdown, you also have to have a blank line above and below it or it will come out as asterisks like the one above.

    The preview problem is that the site's CSS removes bullets from list items when they're within a form. Devs use lists inside of forms to structure the form fields and it makes sense to remove the bullets. Normally, that works fine but the preview pane is actually within the posting form itself so... the bullets are hidden. @Michael If'n you're so inclined, the CSS below sorts it.

    /* .Preview is a div within the form so it wins */
    .Preview  ul, .Preview ol {
      margin-left: 20px;
      margin-bottom: 1em;
    }
    .Preview ul {
      list-style-type: disc;
    }
    .Preview ol {
      list-style-type: decimal;
    }
    /* form LIs normally have some margin to space out fields. Makes the preview look odd. */
    .Preview .Message ul li {
        margin-bottom: 0;
    }

    This next bit is actually for the front end (not preview). There are a couple of CSS rules in the sandstone css targeting nested lists like ul ul, ol ul, ul ol, ol ol {margin-bottom: 0;}. They're meant for nested lists within the posts but since the .MessageList that contains each message is itself a <ul> that CSS affects any singular list within a post (circles instead of solid discs, no bottom margin...).

    CSS below uses child selectors so that it only targets uls and ols that are top level within a post. That means it wont work for quoted lists but it also saves the tail chasing that would be involved!

    .Message > ul, .Message > ol {
        margin-bottom: 1em;
    }
    .Message > ul {
        list-style-type: disc;
    }

    Thank you Professor. Am in Chicagoland currently, but will experiment on your cat at my earliest Texan convenience.
