Crude bytes Heavy Brass Out Now $9.99 Intro Offer
Out now. Sounds pretty good.

Until I am/can be convinced that this offers me something far and away beyond ifretless brass, thumbjam, etc it's going to be hard to take another ten spot out of my threadbare pocket...
All the good brass sounds for iOS (ifretless brass, some thumbjam sounds even some sampletank) are great for symphonic music or related, for pop, funk and soul there is nothing really great, it goes from decent (maybe import some soundfonts into bs-16i) to awful (sampletank not orchestral brass sounds).
I will check it out later If the sounds are worthy im definitely buying this.
Polyvalent is a big word. Flo is loquatious. And JGY's cow is having his annual exam so he can't afford apps I guess. Moo
I like your analysis. Please let us know if you get off the fence, would appreciate your input on this.
I think Doug might be more of a leg man....
So many nice apps out for ten bucks lately, some limited time only: Patterning, Poseidon, Heavy Brass, Fugue Machine, etc ... is ten the new twenty in App Store economics? And let's not forget the "before the end of November or forget it" stuff a Hammond in your Gadget and smoke it for 20 bucks that Korg is offering ...
Korg is always twice as much as the next developer. Damn sterling reputation in the field and all ...
I have the same point of view
It's all in the consuming head of course. The 4, 5 or 6.99's don't phase me, but reach up to ten and I begin to get all Headmastery about expenditure.
Agh! I'm even more of an app slut after a few Friday beers! I love it; it's helped to turn my living room into Muscle Shoals this last hour or so.
@JohnnyGoodyear it has some punchier settings like crescendo, growl, shakes and falls that I can't get on iFretless brass, which I've adored since it came out.
I've always said you were nuthin' but trouble....
Best brass I'll rarely use
BUT if someone, say, had a ukelele song which he wanted a little low-key funk brass section on in the background this would do the trick nicely is what you're saying, right?
@Johnnygoodyear precisely
Waiting on my boho uke

Not sure if it's my ears, but a lot of the sounds are very samey in the demos. This is what's held me off from buying the devs other apps. I think if I was in the market for more brass I'd go for another iFretless.
I've used iFretless Brass with Heavy Brass together, used iFretless as the controller. Seems Ok results when layering them up. Not bad considering the sounds against Sample Tanks Salvics Philomonics stuff. Now might try all 3 together.
Trouble Sample Tank, is that the midi is a bit iffy. Always has been.
Yeah. They use a lot of the same base material for a lot of the sounds in iSymphonic as well. Adding artificial articulations to the same base samples to create a "new preset". But hey, they're welcome to send me a promo code to prove me wrong.
Edit: Just to say, it may not always be a bad thing (especially on iDevices). But as a seller you need to be honest and transparent about it. Crude bytes haven't been from what I can see.
@monzo @ChrisG @studs1966 Gentlemen, your luke-warmness is gumming up my buying works....
Well I bought, as I liked Dougies Vid & trust his reviews. Once the price goes up, you may think, " Oh Clucking Bell!.... Wished I bought it now!".... It good for Dance,Jazz, & Reggae ideas. If I wanted to do more Classical, then that, with a hint of iFretless Brass, with a Sprinkle of Sample Tank on top for good measure. Horns sounds are difficult to reproduce, as they only have a good sample range before it starts to squeak out. I like it for Dubby Horns Section(get the delay, & reverb right). You could sound simular to a bit of Dubbing It Up Roots Radics Band?
Shame really, as I'm a fan of acoustic classical instruments, and I would have snapped up iSymphonic long ago.
I'm not even standing next to the fence on this one, even though it's Saturday app and wine night.
Precisely. My comfort zone ends somewhere between $5.99 and $7.99. 10 bucks often puts me squarely into the "will I have to clear this with management?" zone.
Yeah. Ten also puts be in mind of the Blindside Worry Factor. Buy this today and you know there'll be something else tomorrow that'll be the same kind of money and more urgently need to be slipped into the expense report somehow...
Thanksgiving is Thursday and Black Friday sales follow as well. Something tells me I will need the ten for that much more than this. Still waiting for Kirnu.
So I actually went ahead and bought this the other day. I think there are some useful sounds but my main problem is it's all terribly out of tune. Not just just slightly out of tune but seriously out of tune. I don't know how they could release it like that and think it's alright. Of course one could use the fancy Scale tuning feature to correct each note to the next correct pitch but then I still can't get an E when I play E but I get a D. This needs to get fixed very soon.
have you asked them about this, stuff like this is always so curious for me
thought this was $9, it says $20 in the iTunes store?
The intro offer would seem to have expired.
I told them about it. Also some sounds are pretty distorted. And some have a loud pop at the end of the sample. That's not what I would call high quality...
Introductory price it's over.
