MicSwap vs MicRoom
Hi there. Have anybody tried both and can recommend one over the other?
Comments
Have both. Use Micswap more and am probably biased a little towards the developer (as opposed to IK, who, it feels, piled on a little with this thing, putting out their version six or seven months later...). The software allows for more in app recording, mic switching and so forth as is and there's an AU release on the table (apparently) which is due in the next ten minutes...BUT, it's a matter of finding a vocal set-up that works/gives you confidence, so others will swear otherwise and I haven't deleted the IK version either.
Thanks mr. Goodyear. I have the free version of both and vas thinking about buying a pack for Micswap. Will this enable audiobus and iaa you think? By the update history in AppStore, only the pro version is updated with audiobus and iaa compatibility.
Hard to comment on Free vs Pro I'm afraid as I only have the Pro, but can confirm that it works fine (for me) wth Audiobus and IAA. Does sound a bit sqwarpy (to quote another current thread), but that's more to do with my tremulous singing than anything else...
@JohnnyGoodyear ha, i see what you did there.
AU is available in both versions of MicSwap, but to use it in Audiobus or IAA you have to get MicSwap Pro. The Pro version also comes with all mics, studio environments and the ability to plug in an external mic or interface. Using MicSwap Pro as an effect in Audiobus can really sweeten or dirty your sounds.
@garygary Really looking forward to giving this a run....
Anymore thoughts on this peeps? @JohnnyGoodyear or @Jakersjaw or @garygary
Thanks.
Is there an online manual or specs for either of these apps? I'd like to see the list of both source and destination mics in each app. Seems like it wouldn't work correctly if I don't have one of the source mics.
I don't have either of these apps, but I was under the impression that the IK mic room was designed to work specifically with their iRig digital microphone.
On iOS those plus our analog microphones plus earbuds+mic, built-in mic, and other analog input. On the desktop version you can use the real version of the modeled mics as source as well. iOS details are here: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/vocaliveios/index.php?pp=vocalive-ios-microom
@gburks - There's more info on MicSwap and MicSwap Pro here future-moments.com/micswap MicSwap is also a recorder where you can change the sound of any recording after the fact. My fave use of it is as an effect in Audiobus or AU running drums or synth through the different mics and adjusting the gain in MicSwap to sweetly distort and change sounds. MicSwap Pro has so many uses.
Yes. MicSwap Pro works with any mic or interface connected to your device. You can also run a synth, acoustic guitar, or any instrument through MicSwap Pro by connecting an interface.
...of course you can also use whatever microphone/input you'd like in order to add color/grit/etc in Mic Room as many do regularly
@Flo26
Anytime!
Be a literal dull boy I have never really used MicSwap as an AB effect for other things, but I appreciate the nudge to do so...
