I can only get one arp. which one?

There are too many to choose from so I'm asking for your opinions based on your experience so far. I'm deciding just to work with one.

Which would you choose if you could only keep one? I'm thinking of Tera Arpeggist, Xynthezier, Arpeggionome Pro and StepPolyArp.

Are there any other to throw into the mix?

thanks a lot for any feedback.

  • There's also Fugue Machine, Magellan's arpeggiator, and you could easy set MIDISequencer to act as an arpeggiator.

I'd probably go to a coin flip between Xynthesizr and StepPolyArp. I love the random generative options in Xynthesizr, and the note effects (speed up/slow down, per-note splits) in StepPolyArp. I'd also highly recommend MIDISequencer with the IAP's as you potentially get a huge amount of control there.

  • StepPolyArp is the most versatile of those named though each has their own strong points.

  • I have them all and the one that inspires me the most is StepPolyArp! Very easy to use yet versatile and deep. Also Laurent (the dev) is very responsive and helpful.

  • "Chordpolypad > steppolyarp > any kind of synth" =

I agree with all the suggestions, and if I knew better I would have focus on buying mostly "midi tools" (instead of x number of synths)
As they are the apps I end up using the most, with gadget or any daws that receive midi

And Auria pro is around the corner !

Keep an eye on kirnu cream !

    Virsyn Arpeggist is good too

Depending upon how you want to use the arp might influence which app would work best for you. Take a look at Gestrument and ScaleGen as well as the midiSTEPs app and the Kirnu Cream app that should be released relatively soon.

    Chordion is another.

  • Many to choose from. As an idiot I like Step Poly Arp and Xynth with the former being a good place to also write melodies as well if that's on your putative plate etc.

You need to look deeper to know which app can starts and stops the playhead button of the receiver app (Korg Gadget). I suggest you Fugue Machine. midiSTEPs and midisequencer are sequencers, but they do arp too (for Gadget).

If you don't know which app can drive, then it is a waste of time for the money if you are using Gadget as destination. so be cautious for any suggestion here.

  • For my money, I'd take StepPolyArp. I actually bought it for the iPad, but I'm now using an iPhone. I would buy it again in a heartbeat if it became available on the iPhone!

  • If I could only ever have one, I'd wait for Kirnu Cream.

  • Once again, totally helpful. thanks everyone so much. Think I'll at least get StepPolyArp and am almost going to get midiSTEPs too since I have midiLFO.

StepPolyArp can NOT do the start/stop if you possibly using it to record Gadget, remember my warning!

  • StepPolyArp. I've seen the desktop Kirnu Cream in action, and I don't think it's gonna sway me over from that.

  • He... Your call

  • thanks Kaikoo! I do appreciate you letting me know this.

  • @gkillmaster Oh dear. I do believe you are a recipient of the fabled Captain Kaikoo's Curse. A bit like Captain Corelli's Mandolin, but with MIDI learn.

  • Buy this for our Master Killer-G!

    Good for the body!

  • Kirnu has a link to the App Store on the Kirnu iOS page but it takes you back to the top of the page and not the App Store. It must have been submitted when that went up last week I would guess. Cross your fingers at least.

  • Nope. It is there for ages.

Hey what about arpist? Is it still on sale for free with free iap?
    Try that if it is.

Edit: It is but only for iPhone.

  • Haha, what is the Kaikoo curse again? That new theramin-like device is actually kind of beautiful sounding.

I got both StepPolyArp and midiSTEPS. excited! cant wait to see how they do... thanks Kaikoo and everyone. I'm arped out now...
