Can it say:

Either version would work, but the first one seems stronger as it stylistically matches the message of the lyric by being more direct than the second one.

  • Great!

Thank you very much for your fast reply.

  • Simplify. Use direct speech. All I think of is you. Drop the "can".

I agree. Might depend on the tune/beat. Whatever you feel most comfortable with or can sing the best :) Good luck....

  • Thank you very much guys!

I have actually already sent a version to a singer with "All i can think of is you", and i just wanted to make sure it didnt sound wrong.

It depends what surrounds it — what came before, what will come after. There’s opportunities for internal rhyming, rhyming the starts, middles, etc. There’s also opportunities for changing or staggering the lilt or rhythm or metre.

    For example, compare:

All I can think of is you

probably emphasises the ‘all’, the ‘think’, the ‘you’ words.

I can only think of you

has a completely different rhythm but means nearly the same, with four closer more commonly positioned ‘hits’ depending how it gets singed.

Its a bit hard to explain in writing.
But my main concern was that "All I can think of is you" more hade the meaning "You are the first thing that came to my mind" rather than what i intended, if that makes sence.

  • How about "I think of you every week when I write the alimony check"??

  • New question!

"I close my eyes but theres no sleep"

Does that sound weird to you guys, or is it ok in lyrics?

Sounds good to me. I understand what that line is telling me & if it fits in with your song then go for it. You are the creative one & hopefully proud that it's your song, played in your style, with your words, sung in your way. Best of luck.
