MIDI File Player/Editor
I was reading the thread here about MidiBand, and it got me interested in MIDI files. I downloaded some from midiworld.com. I previewed them first in Safari, and then tried playing them in AudioShare on the iPad. They sounded poor in Safari, awful in AudioShare, and I was also unable to load them successfully into BeatMaker 2. Oddly, I guess, is that they sounded pretty good using Preview in Finder on my Mac. The instrument sounds were close to the actual ones from the original recordings of the songs and mixed decent to sound balanced. So I'd like to ask:
Does anyone know how it works in Preview** on the Mac, and why it sounds much better?
Is there an app on iPad that can play MIDI files accurately? Sound Canvas? BS16i?
Is there an app*** on iPad that can import such a .mid file and allow you to edit the tracks?
** I have OS X 10.8 on the Mac. I've discovered that the MIDI preview is no longer available since Mavericks.
*** I'm on the fence about getting Cubasis or waiting for Auria Pro. I'm wondering about a cheaper alternative in the meantime.
Thanks
