FYI: importing audio has quite a few steps to it. Pretty tedious and definitely BPM oriented. Sorry to be a downer, but as somebody who just wanted to easily import samples, the process to do it so unnecessarily laborious (Have to select a BPM and no bulk import) that I wish someone had warned me. Not good for long non-bpm oriented stuff.

Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of my Thanksgiving coma, but this app is for launching loops and clips. I have had no issues with 8-16 bar loops if there is a steady BPM. Hate to be a downer, but there are probably about ten different threads on this forum that explain the importing process, and videos by Novation themselves showing the process. You should do your research before dropping five bucks if that's a big deal to you.

    @Launchpadforios Thanks for the sale!

No, I have no issues with the app. I was responding to @FlightManual asking that people would have warned him about how the user import works. I am seriously happy with the sale!

  • @BvsMV said:

Got it. Thanks. I'll get in touch with him, and follow up. Sounds like we need to make it easier around, or rather, sounds like all us iOS makers need to make the whole process easier somehow.
    Definitely easier said than done...

Hey @flightmanual, we'd love to hear more of your feedback on how to make Audio import easier. Can you drop us a line on [email protected]?

  • Thanks @Launchpadforios for being honest and changing the title as well. I thought audio import was €4,99 at regular price. It seems I remembered it wrong. Maybe in Doug's video he said it's £4.99 or it was another sale... €6,99 regular price is quite... expensive IMHO. I'll watch the video about audio import and decide then.

  • @launchpadforios, please add direct import from iCloud Drive (Document Picker); and add support for Apple Loops (.caf), which are tempo sliced; and will automatically lock to tempo without adding the bpm to the name.

  • Hey, thanks for coming here Launchpadforios.

  • yeah thanks for the sale news and clarifications Launchpadforios.

Integration with AudioShare would be nice.

I got the import function for $.99 this morning! Guess I got lucky for once.

As far as import of samples being "tedious", the whole process of preparing loops to use in an app like Launchpad could be considered tedious if that's how you want to look at it. Or you use loop packs.

  • What are people's favorite packs?

  • The one thing that still keeps me from getting the audio import IAP is that it only applies to the iPad, not the iPhone. I would like to throw in a vote to add it for iPhone too.

  • Would also be nice to have a way to backup sessions without resorting to ITunes. I rarely hook my iPad up to a computer.

  • Hey real quick, does this work as a controller too? For abelton of course....sounds silly but when i dl'ed it I could only launch clips remade in there. I could be zonked here though..

  • Hey Launchpadforios, I love Novation, you are one of the few mainstream devs that understand what having fun while being creative is about, I have personally purchased your bass station, several launchpands, a launchpad mini, a novation zero, and a novation remote 25........ and I even purchased a used twitch.....and I really don't care if you charge a million dollars for your products as long as you don't become like Native Instruments and cripple your apps by omitting features that only make the most basic of sense that everyone would expect. Please the world does not need another native instruments ideology, they are akin to boeing making great planes but leaving out the landing gear, so please please please in my best james brown voice don't be like them.

Thanks Kobamoto. We really admire what NI do, making super-awesome, super-sophisticated instruments to make super-mega tracks. However, we feel fun inspiration often comes from the strangest of places, often breaking a work flow and disrupting it in a good way. Circuit for example was made with this in mind. We hope we manage to keep building this into the things we make.

You do not need to use BPM if you select the number of beats instead

IAP import can sometimes feel a bit one-by-one but really is worth every penny. Especially when you (erm, I) 'play' the effects while recording and then cut the best bits to the bar(s) and re-use elsewhere as desired etc.

As @JohnnyGoodyear says playing the effects gives some great results.  I am having a lot of fun with Launchpad.  I get far more satisfaction from performing a tune on the pads than I do from pressing play in a sequencer.

If you use dropbox instead of audiocopy to import your samples you can do them in bulk quite easily.  Still on-by-one to put them on the pads but at least you can select import,  then which files from the list, then import them all at once.

Import via dropbox is a lot better if you are importing lots of samples.  Put all samples in the relevent BPM or beats folder in dropbox,  open Launchpad,  then use multi-select within dropbox import and select all files you want to import.  A few extra steps over Audiocopy,  but you only do it once and all samples are imported. Internet connection needed of course.
