so can you use the headphone jack and then use the analogue inputs of the iCA4?
A tiny part of me is wondering if this is some deliberate deal to allow the liciencing of this on the iPhone? Could it be?
Otherwise, if that's not the case, I can;t see how the next update wouldn't have some kind of mix down or IAA/AB option at least. It's crazy otherwise.
I was skeptical about this (why would I need it?) but i've spent hours completely immersed in it making some old school type drum and bass.
It's really like a mini version of Gadget on your iphone - with the added bonus of the Kaoss pads and the vocal synth (which is the best of its kind i've heard on iOS).
(It remind me a little bit of Xenon actually - one of the very first iOS music apps that got me started... only it's much better).
The limitations are both a gift and a curse. You have to think hard about how to make a tune with just 4 tracks - but it results in quite a cool, sparce mix where each part has to be really well crafted. I believe that each pattern can have a completely new preset on it so you can have a lot of different sounds in your track (just no more than 2 synths, drums and the vocal part at any one time).
I'd say I was half way through a reasonably catchy track and i'm wondering now which route to take:
- 1. Keep going using the on board song mode to fully arrange the track (then possibly record out each stem via the headphone socket for mixing in Auria and some extra stuff on the iPad)
- 2. Record loops out one by one via the headphone socket and arrange / add to in Auria
- 3. Just create patterns and play the final track as a live Jam using pattern play and the faders (annoyingly the faders aren't on the same page as pattern play!)
- 4. Complete the whole thing as a song entirely in iMS10 and just record the master out
- 5. Boot up Gadget and copy the midi patterns by eye over to Gadget - match the patches and go complete the track in Gadget
At least you don't have to worry about connecting it to this or that, because you can't!
Would play well on my mini2.......
Not sure i'd want to spend £16 on it...
I really hope it gets some digital output capability though.

Yes, each Pattern can has it's own synth presets, so every pattern make very unique sound, which is awesome! Gadget patterned track can only be fixed to one kind of preset, iDS-10 is different to Gadget.
In addition, I found a long pressing on small pattern window, you can move the pattern to other tracks window, so a person can do copying in such straight way.
Also, each pattern button and pattern window can be pressed for delete the sequence or just only delete the preset sound, then the deleted preset sound can individually be changed to another synth preset sound. This is awesome. see photo......
My long standing wish to have all Korg Apps as Gadgets is still valid
This is my plan too, so I'm hoping for an update, or at least news of an update.
I can live without the IAA and audiobus if they just add digital audio out and midi in... great fun though and works fine recording into MTS via analogue inputs of Audio interface. So I have it running on a Mini2 ported through Audiobus on my Air 2.
Agree with all the positive comments, it's really easy and fun to play with. The mystery game is a nice touch with the light pulse when you unlock a feature reminds me of Final Fantasy. I'm fairly convinced they wont add more connectivity to keep it like the DS "Game" theme, but you never know!
+1 it's fantastic. And the fact you can very easily sequence it makes it 100 times more usable. It's worth £7.99 just for this I think.
Good for you for getting on the tweet stick. I do fear their answer is carefully generic (of course). iOS (for me) is such a soup of different pieces from different places that the idea of spending hours noodling up something cool that can't be used elsewhere just blows what's left of my very fragile mind...
@Carnbot, glad your join in. Man! It is Nintendo DS , MS-10 offspring!
Next one should be Mario Bro. on iPhone !!!!!!
Korg iDS-10 and Monument Valley free the same day. Can't believe it.
So so it got nothing to do with the horsepower of the devices. I'm thinking this _really_ shouldn't be a challenge, it would mean more design work and a slightly bigger app, but also more sales...
Edit (I did make a comment about seeing it as a design challenge tho;)
I wish iMS-20 had this pattern sequencer in it!
could do with being able to nudge all notes left and right on the patterns.
Yep. And copy / paste within the piano roll. It's pretty tedious to have to recreate 1 bar drum pattern 4 times if you want your pattern to be 4 bars. (Unless anyone has found a work around for this?)
But not on my mini 2 Not sure if this is part of the game (I don't think it is) but I can't replicate being able to get digital audio out on my mini2.
So I'm now able to use it with the ICA4. I restarted the app and it still works. Scratches head......
And I'm pretty sure if you have the m2-20 this is childs play. But still worth it if it has some features you like.
