Tell me this is not true... (Cubasis regarding Sustain Pedal)

I was trying out iLectric Piano and iGrand through Audiobus into Cubasis, controlling the apps via USB (CCK/Korg KingKorg). I wanted to record the MIDI events first and bounce the audio later. At first, I thought I was going crazy. When recording a free song (no metronome, no fixed tempo, just a free composition), I've notice a lot of looooong notes. Then, even with the metronome and playing in sync with the tempo, some long notes... But more strangely, I've notice those long notes also when I have not used the sustain pedal at all!

Then I've discovered this, which I personally think is an absurd:

Am I having a bad dream?

  • Ugh. I wonder if that has to do with the lack of controller info stuff at this point. I could see how that would be a 'feature' if/since you didn't have access to the sustain MIDI data but that definitely gets filed under "doing it wrong" in the long run.

  • I wonder how much effort they applied in providing that "feature", especially compared to how much it would have taken to having done it right! Pretty surprising that they may have thought that this would be a benefit to users.

  • I think if Cubasis continues as is over the next 12 months we could see the best DAW on IOS but its still a baby right now IMHO.

So much potential yet to be realised.
