I was sequencing it from modstep this morning?? I'm not hot on the sound for some reason.

When you were sequencing Zed inside modstep were you running any other tracks, other synths or??

I ran the sampler but it also was triggering Zed and I couldn't get it to not trigger it so I gave up. I'm looking forward to the next update to modstep because I think it still has MIDI issues in some cases. I do enjoy it overall however.

Zed doesn't float my boat however.

I shouldn't have said "however" twice...

  • @anickt
    I'm partial to "however" personally.
Thanks, I had the same challenge using Zed inside Modstep, except as standalone. Running tests on the various setups with ZedSynth had an opposite effect on me, a renewed appreciation for the sound, which added some frustration as I really want to put it to work...
We don't have Zed in common, but something tells me there's a couple (10+) that we do...

Was working on singing (always unpleasant) and not getting where I needed to go and so took a break (this was a couple of hours ago) and gave Zed its head through Fugue and then subjected the result to a severe Frobbing.

Full Joy. Not partial and not classical neither. Full Flea battering in my bedroom.

The thing about music, and all its machines, is that it can be enormously stolid and flaccid and too much stop and not enough start, but when it kicks you kindly in the arse, even the wicked get to have wings.

    This, thusly

  • Hi, developer here  Many thanks for your comments, kind words & useful constructive feedback. There's only one of me and I have a full time job now. But I've learnt quite a lot in the 10 months since releasing Zed. I'll definitely fix the Omni bug. I have lots of ideas for Zed, including sample support, so you can play impacts through the resonator (how about a 2nd resonator?). But also porting to VST/AU for desktop DAWs. And better ways of presenting the UI so there's less swiping & scrolling going on. Let me know what you think! But my experience so far is that iOS development is a complete waste of time financially, so it's a work of love  All the best, Richard.

Thanks Richard for the app love- :) and here's to finding full time work...!
Sample import sounds cool and wild, the more resonators, the better (a good rule in general), and sign me up for VST...

Let us and other developers know what your (real and perceived) pitfalls are maybe we can help :)

Love the app and thank you.

  • @RikMaxSpeed I appreciate your work on ZedSynth and appreciate that it's a labor of love for you.

  • Yep the love shows.

  • "All that said I believe a lot of iOS musicians would love Zed Synth a lot more if they take the time to get to know it."

  • There was no need to take time to love Zed. It sounds like no other synth in the market (in awesome way) .

  • I've made incredible soundscapes with the audio input at the coffee bar... Zed pairs great with Sparkle...

More info or better yet a sample of this incredibleness young Skywalker...

  • One thing that helps programming Zed, is get to know the signal path off by heart. Once you get where everything is, using the interface becomes much easier and more fun.
