What do you use its greatness for?

Oh how I wish all apps that integrate handling of audio would include similar tools to altering tempo & pitch in realtime as is present i DJay 2, would make playing with loops a whole lot more fun. (Imagine all imported loops/sounds match to project tempo regardless of original tempo).

I use djay 2 instead of the Music.app for playing music because it's so easy to mix and match adjust tempo and pitch at will :D

It's just great fun to use to DJ at parties. Really easy. Some of sugar bytes effects are pretty good. The ability to DJ from Spotify (as long as you have a paid account and are online) is brilliant too.

With the little Griffin splitter box I bought which gives two audio outs I can properly queue up and audition tracks in my headphones while the main out continues. That was a real turning point.

It's a pretty pro app. The fact that you could get it for free I find remarkable.

  • @Matt_Fletcher_2000 @Samu I have a suspicion that you guys are having more fun out there in meat life than me...

Have you found a way to use Spotify and still be able to integrate a different effects app fro the same iDevice?

I don't quite know what I'd do with it, but the price is nice - and after playing with it for a couple of minutes I got that look, you know, where your bottom lip sticks out a bit and you slowly nod your head? That one.

Nope. Because if you use Spotify it kills AB (to stop you recording). So I don't think this is possible.

To be honest I wouldn't want to anyway. I'm by no means the worlds best DJ and just operating one app is taxing enough given I've normally had a fair few pints by then!

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I promised to record a mix off of Djay 2 for someone here a while back and flaked it. I should do that still. I've always been too lazy to figure out how to route Djay 2 to use headphones though, hahaha.

I'm more a DJ than anything else if I'm honest.

And for the life of me, other than 4 decks, I can't find the allure of Djay Pro.

edit: to flex just a tiny bit, recent mix I recorded with Traktor (control vinyl) and real vinyl:

  • 40th birthday parties mainly @JohnnyGoodyear - nothing very cool. But normally fun none the less.

  • Pro is 19.99 and it is 30% off as intro price
Slowly we are getting higher prices for ios apps
