Video Tutorial: Introduction to Auria: Recording audio using Audiobus
In this tutorial I go over some of the basic features of Auria and some of it's limitations. Setting Tempo, Transport options, Audio Paste, etc.. Then I show how to record audio into Auria using Audiobus. I start off recording Animoog and then add to it by using Guitarism as a midi controller for iGrand. I'm using an iPad 3rd gen.
I also take 3 seconds to explain how to pronounce "Animoog" not that I listen to my own advice. :-)
I hope this tutorial was helpful, look forward to upcoming Auria tutorials for more advanced techniques.
Also if there are any requests for things for me to cover in my next Auria video please let me know! :-)

Great tutorial Ryan![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
How is your overall experience with Auria on the iPAD 3?
On iPad 3 using Auria, I often get a stuck or non-sounding note at the initial moment of record, depending on the app being recorded. Anyone else get this?
@Evangelos Thanks! I haven't had much problems on iPad 3. With audiobus you just have to keep it really simple and stand alone style I haven't had any issues. Shutting down background apps and doing a restart before you begin is really important.
@Michael_R_Grant That has not happened to me. I'll let you know if it does. :-)
@Ryan Would you mind if I gave you an exact usage scenario to see if you can replicate it, given that you have the same model of iPad as I do?
@Michael_R_Grant Yeah for sure. As long as i own the apps you are using. :-)
Thanks a lot Ryan! Auria is very overwhelming for a newbie like me and this helps a great deal!
Looking forward to more. It's really awesome that you take the time and effort to do this.
Much,much appreciated.
@Ryan, here's an easy combo for you: Thumbjam in input, Auria in output.
Start a new project. Go to settings and set record count-in to 1 bar, metronome on. In the transport option, turn count-in on.
Go to Thumbjam and start playing notes without trying to record. Everything's fine.
Now hit record in the side-panel (just so the record button starts to flash, not recording yet) and play more notes. When I do this, I get stuck notes and some notes not sounding at all for a few seconds, then it normalises.
Now hit play in the side-panel so the count-in begins, and play a note on the downbeat of the record (ie. the moment the recording actually starts). If you're me, you'll find that this first note doesn't play at all or is stuck. After a few beats, playing normalises.
Can you replicate this? If you can't, I'll see about making a video to explain. It's very frustrating for me! Even happens with the Audiobus buffer at 512.
@Ryan - good stuff man!
@Michael_R_Grant I did as you said and I could not replicate any problems. It worked flawlessly all 20 mins that i tried it.
@gjcyrus Thanks :-)
@Blindlemonjello No probs ! Glad it helps :-)
@Ryan Very interesting. I wonder what the problem my end is. I had no other apps open, I went into airplane mode, I reset my iPad. When Auria was in 1.07 a few weeks ago, I reinstalled it but still had these issues. Maybe I'll try that again with 1.08, just to make sure, and also reinstall Audiobus. If that still doesn't work, I will definitely make a video of the problem. Thanks for trying it out for me - you got no stuck notes at all?
Has anyone else has my issue? Also, does anyone else get some pretty severe stutters when running Alchemy through Chordion and changing chords? Again, this is iPad 3.
How much memory?
64GB.
Ought to be enough...
As soon as I get a chance I'll check this too..
Would be awesome if others could try this. The easiest way to replicate it is to load up Thumbjam and Auria, hit the same note repeatedly in Thumbjam, carry on hitting the note as you press the record button on the Audiobus side panel and see what happens. On my iPad 3, I get notes not sounding or lagging badly, and the Thumbjam display lags so the visual cue of a note being played either doesn't happen or happens a second later.
Please note, this is definitely an Auria, not Thumbjam, problem because it happens on every other app I've tried with Auria. And I've reinstalled again and also reinstalled Audiobus.
I hope there isn't something wrong with my iPad.![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
EDIT: Video of this happening!:![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/h7-MRMzMRTg/0.jpg)
@Michael_R_Grant Wow.. that's bad. I am certainly not experiencing that. Couple questions.. Why do you have so many appstore notifications? And is your iOS up to date?
Michael:
I'm not getting any lagging on the sound at all. I'm on iPad 2, latest iOS, non JBd, latest version of all apps mentioned. I'm not doubting you tho, it looks really bad in that video. The only thing I did differently was loading up Thumbjam before Auria. It's just something the dev mentioned on the Auria forum about the best way to load up everything, and that I always make a habit of doin - close everything in task bar, open Audiobus, then the sound input and Auria as the last step. Btw I also tried switching buffer setting in Audiobus, recording into Auria, going nuts in thumbjam etc.
Gotta be some setting somewhere in Auria that's wrong tho if it's only with Auria you're getting these audio problems with. Try asking the dev over at their forum, and show the video. I'm pretty sure he'll help you out as soon as he see your post.
Just me, then. Oh noes! I wonder if I should do a clean install of my iPad and then restore a backup.
@Ryan I just haven't updated a few of my apps, but I am on the latest iOS (6.1.3).
@ChrisG I shall do so! Cheers.
