MiMiX 2.1 Update

TTrGames is proud to present MiMiX 2.1 - a free update to MiMiX - Mixer for Audiobus.

With MiMiX You can take total control of mixing of Your favorite Audiobus enabled apps’ outputs in the most convenient way. Just insert MiMiX into the Output Slot of Audiobus, even into multiple chains to mix the sound of the connected input or effect apps. You can even insert MiMIX into the input slot to send the mix or any port outputs to an other app, like a DAW to record the mix.

What's new in this version:

  • Added adjustable send outputs for each port
  • Latest Audiobus SDK (2.3.1)

You can download MiMiX at the App Store. Also, You can check the user manual at: http://ttrgames.hu/mimix/mimix_manual.pdf

Please consider rating MiMiX in the App Store, as it helps the further development of the app. Any suggestions or feature requests are welcome.

Cheers,
Peter

  • Needs a little time to drip through the stores ...

  • I love this app, use it all the time.

Just posted about it at my site :-)

    http://appsfor.audio/mimix-mixer-for-audiobus/

  • Awesome update.

  • I have asked this previously, but still don't fully understand the benefit of this app (which of course I already own :)) if I'm not using AB to play 'live'. Any insight into what facility I may be missing out on? Thanks for any thoughts/tips...

  • It's useful for example as an alternative to using a DAW that is capable of sending to multiple output channels if your interface supports that @JohnnyGoodyear, when you don't want the overhead of using a DAW . Currently, AB only supports 2 output channels. By routing into MiMix you can send to multiple outputs. I illustrated that in the iCA4+ official videos.

OTOH, you do introduce a smidgen of latency using MiMix.

  • For live playing is the latency noticeable? I am thinking making some chains with FX and route audio using MiMix...

  • I haven't checked in the latest update. Might be better now.

Thanks boss. I suspected as much. As I'm not an outboard gear/connector (at this point) I think I will leave this in the cupboard for now...

  • You are missing out on basic functionality that should have been included in audiobus in the fist place. ;)

Sounds good. You know me; hate to miss out! But if I am not playing live or connecting this externally, what could/should I be using it for? This is the center of my confusion :)

Aux send a loud limiter on the master record x tracks of what you are doing live,
Have aux send for fx in audiobus, pan level, mute, solo
Or Play 5 apps at once and put a filter on all of them and freak out
    It's a lot of fun
    Daws can be so boring...

Oh you crazy kids living out there on the ragged edge....

With mimix audiobus becomes a nice audiohost
And not just a pipeline from here to there
Crazy kids with grey hair rocking touch devices with their dirty fingers and minds :)

Maybe balancing the levels of apps going into a reverb/delay effect is something You might find useful like @dwarman showed in this post.

As the guy from the show said all those years ago: I want to believe... Thanks for the idea, will go off and look at that post again....

  • I don't use audiobus without mimix any more,
It helps out with a lot of short comings
    Can't believe you missed it.

Now also with aux send for any audiobus app :)

  • I could not seem to figure this out at first. But thanks to an updated and clear manual, yep the aux send is working as expected. Thanks Peter!

Happy to hear that :-) And yes, the manual is updated with descriptions and use cases for the aux send feature.

I haven't had any issues but I only use it to route click track from loopy to out 3 of my EIE

  • There is 3 things I use as the foundation of my iOS Setup as of today:

    AB2
    MiMIX
    Midiflow
    and soon LINK :)

Hafta say (after a kick up the arse from Mister lalala) I did chain a few things into it and have a fiddle and -especially with loops playing or patches on 'hold'- it does give you a unique way to work sounds together in real time which is lovely/productive...

  • Good to add a knob box to it too - nanoKONTROL2 say. I used to have the knobs drive pan, now I think I'll be having them drive Aux sends.

Re latency: cant say I've ever been bothered by it live.

  • Great update, I'd been hoping for a way to do bus effects , like you'd do with a reverb on a mixing board, with audiobus for a long while.

  • Tip: Make a Send with AU:Space followed by Klevgr -> Ducking Reverb :)

Not certain I'm doing it 'right', but I have a version of this with Fugue running through it which sounds terrific in a weirdly maudlin way...
