Need Some iMini Presets?

edited August 2013 in General App Discussion

The 500+ stock iMini presets not enough for ya? Well good news is that iMini is compatible with Arturia's Minimoog V (MiniV) presets and share the file extension *.minibank. The bad news is that Arturia makes is uber difficult to import/export banks,sub-banks, and presets. First I went to Arturia Presets Download and downloaded the 8 or so banks they have available for the MiniV. Tried the iTunes File Sharing route and that didn't workout... So I turned to iFunBox which I thought would work perfect, but it doesn't because you drop in .minibank files you can see but not edit all the folders and preset names and once I had 8 banks loaded, each time in iMini that I'd click load to pick a preset it took 30 seconds for the drop-down to show. So I took all the files out, put them in my subfolders, copied that .minibank, then when you drop it in iMini it puts all the names back to normal and crazy, but does load much much faster in one bank.

So I've made it as easy for everyone as possible (believe me I've tried every route to try to make it simple), in order for them to show up right and organized here is what you do. You have to use iFunbox and you have to put them in your preset folder (I'll tell you how to get there) and you get an additional 700 awesome presets, that includes templates, basic builder presets, and remakes of instruments and throwback synths (All presets are from the makers listed on Arturia website and a few randoms.)

*I don't recommend opening iMini during the process because if you go into a folder/preset in the app, delete it in iFunBox, the app tries reopening in that same folder/preset and crashes. Also one good thing is you can create new folders under your presets but you cannot delete any, they will reappear.

Process:

  • Download this file iMini Presets and extract files
  • Open iFunBox and navigate to iMini (not under App File Sharing, but User Applications
  • File Order: iMini>Library>Application Support>Machines>MiniVController>Presets>My Presets
  • Take extracted *.miniv files and select all files and drop in their respective folders (i.e. Arp, Bass, etc)
  • Unplug iPad and you should be good.
  • Open iMini and verify they are under "My Presets"
  • Close it, close all running apps, and perform a soft rest (power & home button hold until you see the apple)

The last step is for good measure and cleans caches and memory. Enjoy

    .

  • NP its not too difficult, but they try to make it that way. Prob didn't need to type that much haha

  • tried this on pc and iphone---keep getting 404 dropbox error----any reasons ---solutions ?????

  • also if you are jailbroken -- using ifile---this will be a breeze to add these banks
the other day i grabbed all impc sound files and dumped thyem in bm2 ---simple simon
I do this all the time with projects samples etc--------------ifile is the daddy of file control on all devices--- jailbreaking just for this option is a no brainer !!!

  • wow, this is an impressive collection!
I did it the way @Nicebutfun describes, using iFile.
    Thank you @JMSexton !

  • I just want to note, as a professional courtesy and a thanks, that these belong to Arturia and are available for free download as 8 banks on their site. I simply merged them into one large bank because iMini seems to process each bank every time you open the preset folder and that takes much longer (30 seconds or so) with 8 banks versus 2-3 with one.

@Nicebutfun - link was wrong its fixed now

  • Great add!!! Many thanks for share it :)

  • many thanks for this jarrett (and arturia)- your instructions worked a treat....
always nice to have more sounds to play with - had a quick doodle - very nice arps so far... welcome any excuse to not have to finish anything ! :<)

  • Jarrett,

    That was kind of you.

    Thanks

Nice find, and thanks for the link! Can't have too many presets..

Edit: There are some really really great patches here, so don´t be scared of by using iFunbox. JMSexton basically did all the work here, so just connect your ipad, open iFunbox and navigate to the "my presets" folder like explained above. And simply mark all the folders in JMs link and move/copy them over, and its done. It won´t mess with the factory presets at all.

  • Jarret..... your a star !!

  • Thanks @JMSexton! I saw this right before I left for the beach. If I'd have the trunk space for my midi controller I don't think I'd leave the house at all tonight. They sound really good, thank you again!

  • Such a gentleman mr JMSexton :)

  • Thanks JM for sharing with us.

  • nice work @JMSexton, thanks! :)

  • JM You are awesome for sharing this!!!! It's appreciated :)

  • Bumping this since iMini is on sale right now. This is a useful package of presets. Thank you, @JMSexton.

  • Thanks JMSexton for working this out and sharing. Works like a charm. Was also scared a bit about using iFun. But followed ChrisG advice ;-)

  • It really is a great program and relatively easy to use, doesn't let you delete crucial things (unless Jailbroken) really, and its great to help clean up extra data apps take up for no reason. Glad you enjoyed!

  • @JMSexton hey, the db link's broken... Any chance you might fix it? I'd love to dl the presets..

    !شكراً

  • It's possible to load *.minibank files in iMini. As I recall when you load one, it creates a new set of preset files in one of the sub-folders of the app. After you load the minibank, use iFunbox to copy those new preset files to your desktop, then delete the *.minibank file. iMini has a tendency to want to delete those sub-folder preset files later after is sees that the original minibank file is missing, but you can just re-add them to the same subfolder where you got them. It's a finnicky app with presets and not a perfect solution, but it does work.

  • Does this still work?
