  • Nicely done as always, thanks guys!

  • I found it odd that not one of the developers who support LINK also support state saving. Just a coincidence or something more technical going on?

  • Brilliant. Hard work. Thanks to make it possible.

  • Which app is the master bpm at the begining for linking? The first app? The Audiobus (Audiobus has no bpm selection) ? The second app? What if I reject the first app after inserting the second app within Link chain?

    Just coincidence.

The app that has Link enabled and has been running the longest, I think.

  • Interesting point in the video, that the AB master start button starts any AB app that has a start button.

    Yep. :)

I assumed that was an error in the video... Meaning he should have said "AB master start button starts any AB app that has a start button" "and has Ableton Link"

Or does this work with all audiobus apps even those without Link?

It works with all apps that have a start button in the Audiobus connection panel.

  • Only the ones with a start button.

You're correct. I've added that to my initial answer.

    Very cool! Astonishing actually.

Although, this may introduce glitches. Guitarism for example has a start button that automatically records seemingly random snippet of the last played chord progression. It's not a recorder exactly, more meant to audition sounds in an audiobus chain, like when running Guitarism thru tonestack. I would not want this suddenly playing over a Linked song. I'm sure this is a rare scenario, but apps like Guitarism would need to be kept out of a Linked Audiobus setup.

  • I'm having some problems with AB. When I load IElectribe for iPhone, Gadget, and Elastic Drums, nothing starts when I press play. I can get Gadget to start within the app itself. But when switching to iElectribe it wont start. Neither will Elastic Drums. I restarted my ipad and even deleted and reinstalled all the apps. But no luck. Also when I start Gadget in AB, it keeps bringing the tempo back to 70bpm with the loop function turned off.
All these apps work together without AB, even though ED goes out of time because when you switch presets, it doesn't wait until the pattern ends. But that's another story.

@Sebastian when I click any of those videos in your first post, they disappear. I'm using Safari on an iPad Air 2, latest iOS.

EDIT: Found the source of the issue, it was a setting in Purify (Safari content blocker)

  • May I ask how the connection happens between devices? I already tested it between apps on the same device.

  • All of this - ALL - would be SO much easier to keep track of with a Midi Implementation Chart for each app. Hardware devs are required to put it in the user manual, wish more devs did this for their apps.

Start-stop-continue (for example) is a very simple thing that literally has nothing to do with the midi implementations for tempo sync.

  • @Sebastian there is a mixed message about iOS 7 Audiobus compatibility in the App Store.

  • @sebastian Having problems with Audiobus 2.3.1 on iPad 3 the app downloads but stalls on installing it.

  • Sorry should of mentioned on iOS 9.2

  • Hi @sebastian sorted after deleting from within settings and completing a free install. Thanks
