Multimix 8 or other (multiple inputs)
Hi, Does anyone know whether it with Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2 with iOS 9.x it is possible to send more than 2 inputs simultaneously (This mixer sends up to 10 independent inputs). Any other existing alternative?
Thanks

I think the iPad will only see stereo input. But I'm not too sure.
I have the UCA222.
I don't think the Multimix 8 USB2.0 is class compliant, so it doesn't work with ios... . Also, I found its signalpath to be pretty noisy, I would not recommend it. There used to be an older Model: Multimix USB (1), which supposedly was class compliant, but I never used that one... .Focusrite 8i6 does 4 inputs/outputs with ios, or 18i20... (You could try in the Auria-Forum, they have a thread with ios-compatible interfaces). Good luck, t
The specs show it is a 10x2 USB, so no you can't get more than two channels output.
Mmmm,
"10 direct outputs to your computer for recording and 2 return inputs for monitoring"

Maybe I was reading the spec backwards. Most mixers I've seen only have two USB outputs for a L/R pair. Of course, if it isn't class compliant.....
I'm just playing Devil advocate here, but " 10 direct outputs ....." doesn't necessarily mean simultaneously. It could mean there are 10 choices, but not all at the same time. Just saying ;-) You know how marketing typically is, don't make an outright false statement, but leave out some of the details so that it sounds much better that it is.
I read it the same because, as you say, that is the norm. But I think we may indeed have it backwards. Without class compliant setup though, it doesn't matter for iOS. It's zero in, zero out!
Alternatives?
Anything by Focusrite, Scarlett series. Do your mixing in the iPad. I know there are others (Behringer have a digital mixer that will work but it's pricier). But I use Focusrite for multi-channel I/O. 18i6 at home and 18i0 at work.
I had the fx version of this mixer (until it packed in). Only 2 inputs in but worked fine on the iPad. Much prefer my new iconnectaudio4 but only 4 inputs.
thanks ;-)
