Music App Sales
You've probably noticed that many of the apps with Ableton Link are currently on sale: Loopy ($2.99, was $3.99) the 4 Korg apps (half price), Patterning ($7.99, was $9.99), Elastic Drums ($6.99, was $14.99), and of course, Audiobus ($3.99, was $4.99) While SampleTank has been on sale since Black Friday, one thing that is new is that the in-app purchases are now 50% off. (I know, because I just paid full price for one of them.) So if you had want Sonik Synth (huge improvement in SampleTank sounds) Sample Moog, or Miroslav Philharmonik, they are now $10 instead of $20. It seems from the product description that IK might now including "The Grid" sound pack--that used to be $10--but I can't tell because I already have it. (The in-app purchases for other IK apps are also half off now, but I don't know if they were half price before.) Also, Nanostudio is currently $6.99 (was $12.99), iVoxel is $4.99 (was $6.99), Soundprism Pro and Soundprism Electro are $4.99 (they were $9.99), FL Studio Mobile is $13.99 (was $19.99), and Roland Sound Canvas ($12.99, was $19.99).
This is on top of the many other sales that have been widely reported here and elsewhere.
Comments
My timing sucks. I bought a whole bunch of that stuff, last week.
Me too. : ( But there's no way to know when these special deals will happen.
If only there was a regular annual event around which sales usually happened, that would be loads easier.
And a website that tracked app prices. Like an app shopper site.
Buy the ticket, take the ride....(and I think we've all taken our turn at being burned on this train, nature of the game).
I made http://www.musicappnews.com for this Once one of the registered apps is below 'normal' price, it will pop up on the sales list + tweeted by 'musicappnews' on Twitter (http://twitter.com/musicappnews) and forwarded to Facebook as well. Happens every hour
Same goes for app updates btw
Cheers
The Twitter feed sounds great. Thanks Tonappas, I will check it out.
There are several apps that do this, and that's how I got the information above. I use AppPriceDrop, App Hits, and AppZapp Pro. All three of them let you filter by "Music" and App Price Drops is searchable. My favorite one is App Hits, because not only does it tell you the sales, but it also tells you what apps have just been released, and what apps are "hot," in other words, they have gone up a lot in the last few days. (Sales can do that.) But I like checking all three because they strangely have different ones. You learn interesting things from these apps. There are certain apps that are 50% off today, but were 75% off on Black Friday. And today all the all the Session Band apps are $1.99. Their normal price is $8.99 but they were $3.99 on Black Friday, when I bought one. : (
My feeling is that 1) we know that the prices will go down on Black Friday and around Christmas. I suspect they will go down around a lot of the major holidays or when something happens. For example, a lot of the apps that have Ableton Link are on sale now--and surprise! They are selling more than Fugue Machine, that is not on sale. Also, Auria Pro came out and Fabfilter knows that a lot of people are on the fence thinking about whether to buy their expensive plug-ins. So they ran a very modest sale on their stuff to seal the deal.
Thanks for the twitter feed; I will follow this religiously from now on. I'll still get burned no doubt, just maybe less often.
Appshopper can email you for sale/update apps from you wish/own list after registering.
The fast way I've found to spend my money.
Great tool as well to tracking which apps are gone from AppStore and app activity since release date.
You can still access to the website. App is called now "Appshopper Social", but I kept the ipa file and continue using the original Appshopper app.
I just use this

Last year I was following some internet resource or other that put the information alongside proper money instead of the foreign currency that most are in. No idea how it did it, but it did. Is it possible to do that based on location detection?
Appshopper can show prices no matter the currency you want. In fact, I have configured it for € iPad (version) but $ (website) to inform about sales in this forum.
Frax hd featured in Jakob's last video is on at half price for $2.
Haven't tried it yet but downloading now.
Tried it now...
Was going to say not sure it's worth it even at $2 until I found the menu at top. Frax flow with some music playing is very nice. And some of the presets are quite nice to explore.
So yes I'm happy with it and can definitely recommend it at $2.
The iap for all features is $8 though. Did not go for that.
Hopefully nobody minds if I add a couple of non-iOS items here. Native Instruments is giving out a synth as their Christmas gift this year. I'm not really into synths, so I can't judge the value of the gift, but in recent years NI has given out a compressor and a delay for Christmas that were both good. I use the delay and the compressor so I'm guessing that the synth gift is usable for people who do use synths.
The item from SoundToys is free if you want it to be. They've been letting people pay whatever they want for some of their little items. This week it's a delay called Little Primal Tap. I already got the little items as part of a bundle that I bought from them, but one of my friends got Little Radiator for free just by choosing a 0.00 price. He just paid $4 for Little Primal Tap, so evidently you really can choose any amount that you want to pay. They're giving the money away during the promotion. I don't remember the cause.
Don't believe it! Watching sales page like a hawk for the last few days; and now Oscilab on sale today after I bought it yesterday to amuse me on today's long train journey. gnnrh!
It did amuse me though, and quite a lot at that, so not really a loss I guess.
Also Lorentz and Laplace are cheap enough for impulse buy and they've been amusing me for the last 4 hours. What a great sound they have.
Sunrizer for iPad is currently $ 4,99 until the end of the year
Cyclop is $ 12,99 at the moment
Impaktor too half price...
Awesome!
All Sugar Bytes apps are on sale now. I'm thinking about picking up Effectrix or Turnado. Not sure which is better.
Both are good and worth getting but I would say Turnado is the better in my book
Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking the same. The effects look similar to their Rack Extensions for Reason which I like.
Hey everyone, I just put both of my synths on sale until Jan 2nd —
76 Synthesizer — ($2.29 CAD -> $1.19 CAD) 50% off!

synthQ — ($5.49 CAD -> $3.49 CAD) 40% off!

Thanks and happy holidays!
Having Sunrizer on the iPad is like reuniting with an old friend. I've had SunrizerXS on the iPhone for a few years and it's always been a favorite of mine. I was hesitant about buying the iPad version because I wasn't sure if it'll work with iOS 9. But now that it's on sale, I figured I'd take a chance, and it works fine. So that totally made my day.
All of my effects apps are on sale, the 6-pack iPad bundle is currently $12.99. Happy Holidays

I have all of these puppies already (and a lovely pack they make). If you have someone who's in need of a nudge as regards a moderately-priced prezzie you won't go far wrong
What a deal. I got 'em all already.
Also, 76 synthesizer is under discussed. It sounds fantastic.
Agree on the 76.
Finally got Sunrizer!
Sunrizer is the shit! Cool thing about it aside from how good it sounds is the fact that you can swap patches between the iPad and the iPhone versions. That's good for when you're out and about, and come up with something good on your iPhone.
Got Tonestack Motherload 2 to use with the ILoud Santa is bringing tonight while I sleep. (Of course I was a good boy, well there was that one time, oh never mind that right now),
