I wonder if this one can be of any use while I have Soundcanvas, iM1, Synthmaster and Gadget on my iPad (along -too- many synth) ?

At 2.99 it's almost rude not to get it. It's just so easy to use
Ok, so I buy and not to be rude.
It is really good, highly flexible routing, plenty of SF2s on the net , as some people say...a "no brainer"....
Ok, but I just wonder if it is still of any use... For exemple : is it still useful to have bs-16 (whatever the price) if we have Lyra in Auria Pro ?
I don't have AuriaPro/Lyra (yet) but it do have BS-16i and it handles soundfonts superbly especially when the soundfont has a deep patch-structure (banks & programs). BS-16i also works pretty flawlessly as a GM sound-module.
Ok, thanks. This seems to be a rock solid app. I'm going to take it.
One of my go-to apps. I love it!
You are all right : a real "no brainer" app. I'm happy to have it now
well, sorry to be rude, I have not purchased this yet. It may become an insta-buy if someone can tell me that each audio channel can be routed separately out thru Audiobus. Anyone know if this is possible? (like Thumbjam for example).
@Hmtx , I meant midi routing, no idea about multiple audio channels (I don't think so)
It also plays midi sequences.
Thanks, my fascination with SF2 files is growing, now might be the time to jump on this .
Is it fair to compare this with Roland sound canvas and kong module?
I have no experience with any of them. Are there big differences?
Comparing BS-16i to Roland SoundCanvas or Korg Module doesn't really make sense since they don't allow uploading user sound fonts.
I've still not purchased any commercial sound fonts to use with BS-16i but the stuff from https://www.digitalsoundfactory.com is really tempting. (I'm a sucker for classic retro-sounds).
They are good but remember that you can not tweak them in BS-16, they only "play" but you can layer them by combining midi channels .
I think Roland's canvas offers more sound tweaking
You can tweak the adsr of any soundfont in BS16-i, actually. It's a really useful function.
Wow, this is quite smooth. Plays really well and sounds great. So........Where can I get some more sounds for it? I know I could search the internet for them, but then what good would the audiobus forum be?
Thanks
The 'editing' that can be done in BS-16i is simple Attack, Decay & Release, Lowpass Cutoff & Resonance, Volume & Pan, send to global Chours & Reverb and naturally it's all automatable via midi.
As for "where to find sound fonts", All I can say is: 'Google Is Your Friend' search and you never know what you might find
I have bs16I but for some reason when I connect my keyboard, I don't get the same sounds as I get when playing the on-screen keyboard. Any hints? I'm a MIDIot.
Maybe your midi-keyboard transmits on a different midi-channel than you have selected for the onscreen keyboard?
In BS-16i you have 16 'parts'(Part) and you can select on which midi-channel (RxCh) each part receives data.
So for example if you set the RxCh for both on-screen keyboard of the same value you can layer sounds (you can set all 16 parts to receive on the same channel for massive layers if desired).
So once you figure out what midi-channel your keyboard transmits at it will all make sense.
Thanks @Samu thanks so much! when I get home I'll check it out.
And there are TONS of free sf files out there. I've found tons just by doing a little Google search.
Hey @Samu is there a way to tell bs16i which channel to receive on? I can't seem to find that setting. Thanks!
Cool, I will be google---ing some sf files fer sure.
As far as I understand, it receives on all 16 channels because it's a 16 multitimbral instrument.
By default, an instrument bank (Part) and a corresponding midi channel have the same number. This can be changed but it's probably better and easier to keep it simple and switch to a different Part # - there should be a button in the middle just above the on-screen keyboard. Well, the button for selecting the midi channel is right next to it
