Dev's- is iTunes the only way

To install previous versions of apps? I've never personally done it, but have read about people being able to revert to earlier versions by restoring from iTunes.

It would be nice if this were available in the App Store, but highly doubtful.

@michael r grant posted about an anomaly with auria and thumb jam, and I've had a similar issue with BM2. As the pressure mounts on dev's to cram more features into apps like auria (midi instruments etc), it seems like a good time in iOS audio history to have a way to revert to a previous version if the newest one is just too taxing on the iPad.

  • You should have both versions of the .ipa on your computer. Maybe with i-funbox, you can easily install the old version of the ipa since you've already bought it.

    Don't know, just a thought.

  • Outside of the developer personally setting up a provisioning profile, or a special TestFlight group... Not that I know of. This is something I think we all could use from time to time.

  • If you have a backup of an earlier version, replace the current .ipa file that is in your iTunes app directory with the old one (change the name to the same as the updated one first). And you should just be able to install the old version via iTunes as usuall. If you don't have a backup I don't think there's anyway to do it. Other then that, bombard Apple with requests to fix this (since a lot of "upgrades" can be a downgrade I many ways, not just talking music apps).

  • Sadly if you don't save previous ipas then there's no way to install older versions.

  • Thanks for the replies... It would sure be nice if the App Store would allow downloading previous versions.

  • Thanks Michael for posting this... For people who may need this info in the future
