Apple opens lightning cable sd and usb adapter??

I recently read that Apple's new usb to lightning, and Sd to lighting adapters can now upload and download information i.e. photos , possible audio files.
I contacted Apple chat tech support. and they say yes, you can upload and download jpeg and .wav files to an iPad or iPhone. However, I talked to another Apple tech. and they said they had never heard of it.
does anyone know if this will actually work?
I would love to record high quality audio on my field recorder, and simply plug my ad card into my iPad and edit audio. And it would be great to send out completed .wav files from audio share straight to an Sd card.
Please help, has anyone tested this?
thanks

  • fjcblanco. thanks for the link. that looks pretty cool. do you currently use this? do you need to use a special app to get audio in and out?

You need to install Leef Mobile Memory (free app).

I don't have it, but I saw it in action and works quite well. Expensive, like almost any Apple accessory.

  • For those who don't already know, Audioshare is going to support this really soon! :-) The developer already has the SDK and is adding it to his app. It's-a gonna be-a nice-a!!!

  • Imagine being able to Audioshare straight into the device!!!

  • @audiojunkie audio share is going to support the leef mobile memory, or the Apple Sd to lightning adapter?

I believe the Leef mobile memory is what the SDK was for. I believe it is using the Apple SD to lightning technology though... If you are a member of the iOS Musicians Facebook group, the developer speaks about it there...

  • @ audiojunkie thanks, do you know what day it was posted on Facebook? I'd love to read about it. thanks

  • For quite some time now, Audioshare has been able to work with ad hoc wifi routers like the Hoo Too TripMate (which is also a USB battery source). You can connect a USB drive, even big honking gb drives, and all the directories on the drive are viewable in Audioshare. There are other devices similar to the TripMate. HooToo has an app which serves as an admin tool and a media manager for images, video, etc. The admin tool allows you to set up a password for the device.

so with the Hoo Too Tripmate, I can plug a usb flash drive or hard drive into that via usb, and I can send files directly from audio share to the Hoo Too, and therefore on to my flash drive?

  • sorry for being dumb, about this all you guys are great. Amazing how Apple could make this problem go away very easy. I love Apple, but stuff like this drives me crazy.

  • If it's a public API to access USB-Drives it will not take long until it starts to get implemented.
The developer of FileHub is super-responsive! (When using the apps built-in support/message board under the ?).

Interestingly enough FileHub will get AppleTV support (to use it as music/media/photo player) after the split-screen is done. If it gets USB-Drive support as well it would be super awesome :)
