Loopy question

Trying to take some advantage of the new 'Start from start' function which allows one to use single tracks as pads, and kick off a sample wherever you are in the rest of the tune. Anyone know if/how to record internally in Loopy? In other words, can I set one loop running, 'play' another in and out as desired and all the while be recording the whole thing to a third loop which aggregates all that's been going on? Sure this is either very simple or completely impossible. Would love to know which and thus get back to basting the children on this fine Christmas Eve etc. Thanks.

  • @JohnnyGoodyear - I have not yet played with the new Start feature, but if I understand what you want to do, I would say Yes (see farther down after my rambling for more on this;-). But this is not recording internally to Loopy, unless you are talking about using the Record Session function (the REC button on the menu), in which case also Yes (except!) this will not be a loop that is recorded, but a Session (hence the name 'Session Recording'). These will be located under Recordings in the menu and would have to be exported and imported back in, as the Session Recordings are not accessible as Loops directly.

    ...after my rambling...

Using AB Multi routing, you could assign specific tracks as inputs to 2 routes and then output both to Loopy. As an output Loop records to which ever is the selected track. It's also possible to specify the 2 input tracks from loopy on one AB route. Not sure if one way would be better than the other,. The first way would allow separate effects on each input track, maybe an advantage if you want/need that.

So, if I haven't totally missed the point, let me know how it works out and which way you do it. Or if I did totally miss the point, maybe some clarification and I try again ;-) after a few drinks!

    Happy Holidays
