Impc pro update
A couple of small fixes, but no has desktop project export compatibility. This is BIG news to MPC users if works as described!
Comments
Wish they would add DropBox export with iTunes file share.
iCloud-Drive support (ie. IOS-Filepcker) would be enough as it supports most cloud-service drop-box included. And while they are at it, AirDrop would be a no-brainer too as it's part of the standard 'Open In...' sheet. And it would be smart to zip the exported project too for faster transfer.
Anyways nice to see updates to iMPC Pro even if there are some nasty bugs left in there.
Right now, program export only works if you have individual samples mapped to each pad. If you import a longer sample and chop it to pads, the chop markers don't transfer, so you're essentially stuck with a kit that has the same exact, full sample mapped across each pad.
Pointless until fixed.
Can you just truncate after slicing and then save and export?
Chopping.
I don't see the option to save each chopped part as a separate sample per pad, as you'd see on the desktop software.
'Discard Ends'(trimming) creates a new sample and it works for choped segments that are mapped to a pad. Might be worth testing before it's automated for MPC-export.
I'm spending more and more time with Beatmaker 2 honestly. Sure it has it's quirks but feels very solid unlike the random issues found in iMPC Pro. (Try selecting the last entry in the program-list just to see it bounce back under the 'get more content' banner or pressing the left audition button or random 'silent' samples during playback or timeline forgetting it's grid-size among other things). As far as I know these are known issues and will hopefully be fixed maybe next year or so...
Happy beatmaking / impcbaking holidays to everyone
@Samu thanks for that tip. Discard Ends does the trick and works great! I tested it by sampling an al Green song from my iTunes library using the iMPC Pro turntable. Chopped it up, edited the pads and chose 'discard ends', then created a quick drum beat/pattern. I then exported the project, copied it to my Dropbox (via iFile). Went to my Mac, clicked on the .xpj project file which was then loaded into the MPC Desktop software for further refinement!
Great job Retronyms:)
can the file also be read by hardware mpcs?
I'm not sure. It may be possible with the MPC 5000. The format is the newest Akai format that was created when the MPC Renaissance was released.

I'm not sure. The program file extension has changed from .pgm to .xpm. The sequence extension has changed from .seq to .sxq and the project file extension has changed from .prj to .xpj.
The .wav files contained within the project folder should be compatible with just about any hardware MPC. You could easily recreate kits from those chopped up .wav files.
