Fabfilter Pro L or Auria's brick wall limiter ?

I'm wondering if Auria's built in brick wall limiter is sufficient ?
The Pro L is a bit pricey for what it does methinks (in comparison to Fabfilter's C2 and Q2), anyone have any thoughts ?

There are two limiters built in to Auria, the PSP one on the Master Strip channel FX, and also one in the Limiter tab to the right, above the master fader. I think both are OK, and definitively useful in the early stages of a mix, but Pro L can be pushed much harder without distortion, with Pro L you can really squeeze the dynamics (not that it's a good idea).

If you just want to add a small amount of limiting, or even just need a limiter for safety to avoid clipping the built-in options are fine. If you need to push things harder, then Pro L really comes into its own.

  • The Pro L is one of the best software limiter out there, not only on ios (some people even said it's the best limiter, but i have no clue) so while Aurias build in limiter gets the job done...the pro L is way better and has far more options. So the question you have to answer yourself is more:do you really need the advanced features and better sound to justify the (much lower than the desktop version) price?

  • Ta for the replies.

Perhaps I should have said I'm more concerned with pretty straightforward maximising duties, so I was more referring to the brick wall limiter. I'm demo-ing Pro L on the desktop now. It's actually pretty cool that you can demo all the fabfilter stuff on the desktop before deciding whether to buy to use in Auria. I bought Pro C2 today just by doing that.

    Food for thought...

  • Definitely get Pro-L, it's much cleaner sounding and has a lot more potential for transparency or sound shaping compared the stock ones.
