LP-5 app? Anyone use?
Loving Link - and been eyeing up LP-5 since it has this. I got the demo but there's only several loops to try and i'm not 100% sold. There isn't much out there on the web as far as videos or reviews. Anybody use it much? Thoughts on it? Thanks

@Halftone
I like it a lot, very straight forward clip launch, nice with Link. The in and out for samples is easy, can load from other apps without breaking live flow, even. The IAP samples are cool too. IAA fx 2 slots to use on any track. Lacks some niceties, pan per track for example, but I don't know of any other app that fits this slot, especially Link wise...
i often put together things in Loopy and sometimes wish it had another 5-6 slots for other loops... so maybe syncing with Link and running together would be a perfect solution. It's nice to be able to add 1 of 2 IAA effects on loops! I'm about 95% sold. Trying to make a mental list of pros and cons of a few apps I'm looking at in order to make the most of my iTunes credits after xmas. I'm thinking GeoShred, LP-5, and then Cream & Modstep once the new updates come out to see if things improve (more Modstep for this - I really hope they get things sorted out!!). Already go iDS-10 and it's fun - a little on the high end price wise (I don't think it's worth the regular price of 19.99 )
@Halftone
Here's a video you may have already seen on YouTube demo-ing a loop pack for LP-5 by Jason Donnelly (DJ Puzzle), in the upper right of the vid a link appears to his site where there's tons of free loops...
Nice workout of the apps features, since then they've added export of loop captures...
Quite stable, no crashes with it. Did not use much. When I saw you need it with Modstep, I give it a go with Modstep. it runs smoothly in IAA slot, and listen to the clock.
However, it only listen to the main play button, the main host playhead, not the individual playhead! So you need to back to LP-5 to stop the individual loop clip when you are in the playing.
One more, if driven by host app Modstep, you can not have 2 IAA effects in LP-5, they grey out themselves. this is my test result. Your decision now!
Thanks @Kaikoo. You're enthusiasm for Modstep has almost had me purchasing it a few times. I'm sure I'll get it - wherever it's tonight or next week... Like I said I really hope many of the issues are fixed with the submitted update. (Which hopefully comes before New Years). It seems the developers are committed and I'm sure they will fix - but I'm just slightly fearful that Modstep turns out to be another Electrify NXT - great idea and ambitious attempt - but ultimately abandoned because maybe the app is just requiring too much from the current iOS state ... Probably wrong - hope I am - and like I said I'm sure ill still get Modstep sooner or later
I do not have NXT. But I can confirm you Modstep can have no problem with Gadget! In this ground, It worth everything for the price at the moment! I got fewer and fewer crashes! So the update will be more welcome. I like it a lot, wish it has arp mechanism within, that make it invincible.A total winner, if.
@Halftone
The other cool piece w/LP-5, like his Modrum and Bassline, it's universal, so 2+ instances (10+ tracks) in your Link setup if you have the devices available,
Ahhhh...the wine makes me a weak man... I think after another glass I'll have purchased both LP-5 expansion and GeoShred - and yeah probably Modstep too. That will eat up all my iTunes credit I got for Xmas...
Well - just spent 30 mins shredding with GeoShred - makes me feel like the guitarist I always wanted to be!! Good times - money well spent! Recommended! Think I can hold off on Modstep for a for another day or two...
Respectful choice, so I do not continuing push a recommendation. If GeoShred has mini synch, in, out, customers must be happy.
I don't think it matters much (midi) with GeoShred - as it's more of a live performance app. Those little mistakes or notes slightly off time by a few millisecs in playing help add to the realness of the performance. ( but don't get me wrong - I love a good tight midi sync between certain apps , especially when it comes to beats, arps, and basslines often!)
Don't worry kaikoo - you've pretty much sold me on Modstep already ... Been looking forward to its release for months now so I was mostly sold anyway - I just wish there weren't so many reports of crashing and other issues - but am confident the new update will address many of them!
The Shred - Feel Like The Ax Murderer You Never Were (tm).
I'm using LP5 to launch BPM type loops and my own loops. Works fine, and I didn't try to import short loops in Mod Step (just samples in Mod Step for now) because I don't think Mod Step would be good for short loops (but someone will prove me wrong.) LP5 is pretty easy. Haven't found a better way to do pre-arranged short loops that import easily other than LP5. Tried Launchpad and importing each sample is a nightmare. Tried iMaschine and hate it. Using Stereosun too but haven't figured out the whole wonky interface and where to store my work. Haven't imported loops into Loopy HD cause I don't even know if it does it and in LP5 it is pretty easy. Just tryin to get those loops to launch in fun ways. LP5 works for me. Will warn that latency kills the usefullness of using effects with precise rhythms, and I've found the timing on the loop using the effect (even a low latency/low processor using one like Saturator) can throw the mix off. Hope this isn't too confusing.
Ax Murderer? Is that a veiled reference to Michael Shencker? If it is well done!!! That's the best thing I've heard all year....One of my favourite guitar solos ever is by him - "This Kids" on the UFO Live Album! Thanks @JohnnyGoodyear !!!
that's good info .. thanks @FlightManual ! really appreciate that. I think I can hold off and just use Loopy (which does import loops btw easily!) for now.... using combos of apps that support Link really helps. If only every app had it implemented! That would be almost a perfect world! I really feel the ios music making world has advanced quite alot over just the past month or two! I'm feeling re-excicted and re-invigorated by apps on ios now (or perhaps its just this 5th glass of wine....)
ive used lp-5 for dozens of live sets and its the best app ive found for live clip launching of samples. 16 scenes with 5 clips each is killer, and you can delete and add loops to free up slots on the go. the midi is difficult to sort out for me, and (i think) you can only trigger full scenes and not indiviual clips. (im hoping someday at least one Link-supported app will allow midi control of BPM...). overall i find it amazingly useful, but being able to trigger more that one clip per column (a la that takete app) would take it above and beyond. however, once modstep gets sorted out, and can import samples via open in, ill definitely be switching to it for my live sets.
There's so many loopers out there and I just want something kinda like Launchpad (lotsa pads) and LP5 (good loop juggler) and Stereosun (fun to manipulate) and iMPC pro/ iMachine (big MPC pad layout) and Mod Step (easy to build library of infinite sample sets triggered by midi) and Samples (editing is a breeze) and Sampl (dirt cheap easy) and Loopy (easy and super fun to record/play live) and Samplr (paint with music!) and so on. Unfortunately there is insanely frustrating sample import (Launchpad) and lack of pliability once imported (LP5) and weird finicky functions (Stereosun) and ridiculous interface limitations because they sell devices too (iMPC pro/ iMachine) and too-complex interfaces that can't be simplified for performance (Mod Step) and sample limitations/lack of tempo (Samples) and lack of dependable mapping/clock (Sampl) and lack of pads/easy import (Loopy) to contend with. So I'll stick to bugging out on Samplr and forget about it and enjoy the madness of painting with sound. The holy grail is yet to come.
Yes, trigger only full scenes, that is what I mean. Good to see LP-5 can have a switch to trigger individual scene for midi. Or even chaining different scenes in a timeline under midi start/stop looping command.
I have and like LP-5 a lot too. It works great, even if you are using only an iPhone!!
just don't get the lack of panning in these music apps
You and I are in the same lonely boat together...
the iPhone only club.
I am also in that boat, but I really dig having a boat that I keep in my pocket.
Always there, always ready.
Yep!! I don't mind. Besides, more and more, developers are developing for the iphone--we just have to do our civic duty and let developers know we are out there and willing to pay.
Needs export
needs export
Export needed
@RustiK
Captures do export...individual samples and performances too
Stem export would be killer...
damn! I keep coming back to this wondering if it has panning only to find out that I already asked and it does not.
Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have 8 clips on 1 out of 5 channels
The bpm is set to 174 and every clips were recorded at 174 (and i put « 174 bpm » in the name of each one), none of the clips has the same duration.
But none of them is synced and i can’t figure out How to fix it.
Édit: there is a note on LP-5 website saying « Note: LP-5 supports audio loops of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. beats in length« but it seems like 128b loops are too long. To me there are lakes of syncing parameters...
🤣🤣🤣
This should be your complete answer- no more problems? If you have it set to any of these numbers it will stay in sync- and 16 is the max.
Not sure what you mean ‘lakes of syncing parameters’
It’s be pretty great if this one got an update
