Nice. I'm actually finding it fairly intuitive, though it would be nice to have some detail on some of the more esoteric settings. But the basics are pretty simple.
That 'tutorial' made me feel that this app is much too complicated for me... Thanks anyway.
@Harro, don't let the interface intimidate you, you don't really have to get into editing at all. Simply loading a preset and shredding away is very satisfying and musical.
Nope. I'm the biggest fool in the room and this is definitely a 'dive in and start swimming before you even hit the water' thing. It's also just, well, fun.
Has anyone got a tutorial on how to actually "play" the thing. I "play" guitar (a little, and badly, admittedly) and keyboards (also badly) but I'm not sure what to make of this because it doesn't really seem like either to me. Am I missing a totally obvious (to everyone but me) mapping? Don't get me wrong; I've had a lot of fun so far noodling around, it sounds great, but I have no idea what's going on musically.... Help?
Some understanding of the fretboard and theory help. The basic layout is like six string guitar, without the tuning jog on the B string. If you select e minor natural as a key, the root note, e is a different colour, and all the other notes in the key are hilighted. So, you can hit any of the hi lighted notes and be in key, then just wander back to e at the end of a phrase. The scale looks the same as it does on guitar, which also helps a bit. Anyhow, muck with notes, return to the root, rinse, repeat.
Thanks! I' m more or less following that formula so far. I'd like to locate the triads though. I guess that means I have to learn the fretboard.
@JiggyWig, that's simple, too. Diagonally up, left. So, in A minor, you'll see A C E, which is A minor triad of course. All the other triads follow the same pattern. Makes it nicely simple.
Ahh, okay, I see that now. Cheers
Okay, I'm sold now. Just spent an hour Geoshredding over patterns knocked up in Gadget & Patterning, and I'm struggling to think of a time I've had more fun.
BTW, Geoshred, Patterning & 7 channels worth of Gadgets, all synchronised and recording into Cubasis, on a mini 2 and controlled with Audiobus remote on the trusty 'ol iPhone 5. Guys, I'm impressed, this is seriously cool!
Nice set-up there. And it's fun to have fun aint it?
Sure is!
