ILoud
I asked for and received one of these for Christmas. I must say, very impressed. I now have a pretty killer little practice amp, a very decent mixing monitor, and streaming music to it over Bluetooth sounds fantastic. At a very reasonable price.
I'm becoming in IK Multimedia fanboy.

Yeah, iloud has a great balanced sound. Not like almost all of the new BT speakers with those passive subwoofers that are almost unusable for guitar.
Watch out though, for the power saving feature that shuts it off. I found out that there's a minimum volume thing with it, or something like that. It would be nice to be able to shut it off.
Anyway, i'm a sucker for things like this. I also have a Bose Soundlink Mini, which is really nice but unusable for guitar. I do have a small Soundmatters Foxl dash, gizmo that actually does sound ok for guitar at very low volumes, but it's really small, so the passive sub doesn't boom a lot.
The iLoud has been on my "want one" list. I missed out on a CDN Bestbuy sale last year but with our dollar tanking, the price hasn't dropped, so I'll wait it out some more.
Are you in Canada, @Kandavu? Long and mcquade has some on their website at the old price. That's where mine came from.
Heya @rickwaugh , yeah Montreal & being from Quebec I hadn't heard of them before until now. Your right, the price there is very decent when comparing to elsewhere locally & online. Thanks m8!
@rickwaugh funny, I bought mine last christmas from the same place. I've been happy with it as well.
Yes I would agree with that! No matter what room I am in it just sounds really great. The sound for streaming is to flat for my taste but for music production I am blown away by just how good it sounds. My only complaint would be not enough time to play with it given the busy holiday family visiting schedule. (No, not everyone wants to hear me.). It charges really quickly also.
I got a Soundlink Mini II for christmas and I must say I love this little unit. Haven't heard such a balanced and true sound with a good bottom end since years. I have had several reference Studio Monitors over the years and this little box amazes me. If the iLoud is anything near then you sure are enjoying a good product too.
Personally the iLoud would be too big for me to carry around.
Wow you must be very weak? Is it a medical problem that causes the weakness? As far as size it is pretty much the size of my IPad Air.
After all the research was said and done I am very glad I opted to stay away from the Soundlink. I needed the much better reference qualities that the ILoud has over the Soundlink. If I were only going to stream other people's music the Soundlink is more than adequate however.
I would not use the SL for guitar.
I find my iLoud to be a very versatile peace of equipment.
Quite potent for ordinary music playback, as well as a speaker/micro pa solution in a mobile setup.
I very much doubt you will find anything more more portable in this class.
The name is actually quite appropriate ...
And it's stereo.
I think that's the thing I'm most happy about, that it does multiple things very well, in a very small package.
I've noticed a few have said not to use Soundlink or other passive bass speakers with guitar. why is this important?
will it just not sound very good?
Anyone have any experience with the Line6 Amplifi?
For some reason it sounds absolutely terrible. You have to try it to see what I mean. Google will give you some hits about this. It's about the freq. response obviously, but you wouldn't think it would be THAT bad. The lower range sounds way too boomy.
As I recall (don't hold me too it) the JBL Charge, sounded 'ok', but this was a while ago. So in other words, some of these many sound good- just not the Bose SL Mini.
Boomy and muffled I concur about the Soundlink. The whole package together that the ILoud brings to portable is what makes this little powerhouse stand out. The quarter inch and aux in option is great for guitar and synths alike, or another iPad. The sound that comes across as what you just played is a huge plus. It only takes up the footprint size of the IPad and weighs next to nothing. It is a fun system and I am about to go into alchemy land with mine just as soon as I have some supper.
Big not equal to weight. No problems here. Just the size footprint thats too big for my taste. Thats all.
As I said, i only can judge from a semi producer point of view, having worked with many studio reference monitors in the past the linearity of the soundlink mini II is remarkable for listening and referencing mixes. Given its size. I cant see the mentioned boominedd but maybe the soundlink reacts differently to guitar input than thr iLoud this is afterall a completely different field of use anyway.
So as Jacob tends to say, no go and finger your surfaces
The Soundlink kind of reminds me of this.
Thanks @Nubus. I actually got a pair of Sony SRS X3 speakers and finally got around to getting the appropriate cables for sending L-R channels split out to them. I haven't really had the chance to test it with my guitar. My setup will be a total of 40W, but I'm sure it wont match an iLoud on the low end. At least I will be able to get a pretty good stereo spread
I picked up an iLoud today from a brick and mortar Long and Mcquade and am pleased with form factor, connectivity, portability and the sound, bien sur. Thanks @rickwaugh for sharing what you liked about it. I'd also like to thank @StormJH1 who mentioned his recommendation of the Mackie CR3 monitors in this thread: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/171895/#Comment_171895
I bought the CR3 monitors from Avshop.ca at a super price and have had them for two months now. Love 'em! There's a lot of great advice in these them thar threads. Thanks contributors!
Nice, @Kandavu. Merry Christmas.
Still finding the sound very refreshing and loving the portability factor for such great sound.. I wish I had more time now!
Not sure whether to start a new thread, so....
I have just got an iLoud and really like it. I can see why there is so much praise. I used it in a gig, and thought it was quite impressive, given size, cost etc.
So, I've heard the battery doesn't last long on full volume. Does anyone have any experience on how long, in a real life situation? Say, busking?
Also, is there any way of increasing the battery, mobile-wise? Anyone with possible solutions?
Thanks in advance.
I'm Canadian as well and I managed to get that sale price, it had a very narrow window of opportunity between available and sold out, typical of Best Buy sales, alas.
