Egoist NOT driving effectrix...

I can not make Egoist to trigger sequencer from Effectrix:'( :#
I tried In AB in every possible way, but no go....it doesn't run.
and it is from the same company!...
Is there a secret to it?...it runs with other apps where I can point the clock out, but not with Egoist?
Does it work for anyone?

  • I've only had them talk to each other using Midibus, and even then the process was tedious and unreliable. I think Link integration will make this problem disappear and using Midibus irrelevant for this task. But it does work.

  • They work fine on my IPad Air 8.4.1 in Audiobus. They do not work on my IPad Mini with 9.2 in Audiobus.

In Auria Pro as IAA they work great together on both devices.

Follow these photos instructions, you can play and record your Egoist midi with APro.

Then record your Effectrix audio ( If you desire, use Effectrix keyboard manually to setup and change patterns when you in the recording audio process. )

You can not have direct control of Effectrix by Egoist.

  • Thanks both, I think I might have figured it out....took me half afternoon....

In Egoist, midi out is on ch.10 and in Effextrix, midi in is on ch.16, and midi trigger must be on...for the clock to work. It won't change patches, stays on one and works...

Would be nice to be able to save program changes in FXtrix with PC in Egoist...
    Hopefully possible...

  • It does not work in that way!

  • I just keep it simple and set it up like this in Auria as IAA and record everything on the fly for later chopping and slicing on PC...

  • Once Modstep has audio recording I will just use that for Egoist sequencing as it really works great.

  • Hehe! Nice jammer.

It does for me, I think the channels must be different, (from each other), that's all...

@Kaikoo , @AudioGus , Thanks for the snapshots, I don't have modStep or Auria, I was running just the two in AB...

Maybe you can use Egoist 16 steps probability dice to play and record midi into Modstep. Let Egoist control Modstep, not Modstep control Egoist. Just wondering, because that is what Modstep lacking of and needing for. Modstep has no randomizer, so use Egoist. Just thinking that?

My finger is the ultimate randomizer. 8)

BTW, I have been ecstatic playing with egoist/effectrix in Modstep... It is hands down the best way I can think of to sequence the two at the same time. So good!! the next Modstep update will have audio recording too.

I believe you, can you lend me 20 bucks till next week? ;) ...no , JK...

I am just waiting for next update...of Modstep, but it sounds great...thanks for the tip...
BTW, what more does ModStep do for Egoist that makes it special? CCs etc?

    Also sometimes Effectrix runs....sometimes not...lol

The best thing to me about modstep for egoist and effectrix is that you have one interface for accessing pattern changes for both on the fly simply by setting up and triggering little note sequences. The clip launching lets you just queue up lots of interesting elements that can then overlay in unique unpredictable ways. It really helps you to achieve lots of organic variation and get 'off the loop grid'. I have not played too much with the ccs yet but may for program changes.

  • Also another way of aproachong it is that if you put egoist in keyboard mode you can trigger individual sounds and change patterns anywhere along the 16 steps. so essentially 256 choices of sample slots combined with effectrix 12 effect patterns. Good eatin!

  • Nothing is driving Effectrix for me actually.

    Anything I tried.

You tried it as an iaa effect in modstep?

  • Thanks @AudioGus , you're my kind of experimental person... :D

Do you care to try some cc recording? Load iElectribe in modStep and record some notes for example Synth 1 (note #36) and record some CCs for that synth, just draw curves....

Short list of CCs so you don't have to look for them: 15: pitch, 16: wave form and #17, 18, 19, some modulations for synth 1...and the see if they "move" in electribe ?

That is if you have iElectribe?....but this is not a request, you know what I mean.... ;)

They do, but you need to point clock out of Sequencer X to Effectrix, then it works

  • Hehe I listen and obey! Will try it out on the train home.

Be extremely careful...it is known that getting too absorbed into the addictive mix of modStep and iElectribe can cause missed train station ...

the good news: cc info is relayed and recieved just fine.

The bad news: there are crash bugs on the modstep side creating the initial cc setup. Once set up it works great though.

Maybe more good news: an update was aparently just submitted to the app store that may fix the setup crashes

  • Thanks a bunch @AudioGus , good news that it works...and update coming.
