Song of the Month Club - best of 2015
This seems a good time to do a review of some of the great stuff that was posted in SOTMC last year. So I am proposing several options for people to nominate tracks for consideration:
1) Option 1 (open to everyone, not just SOTMC participants):
nominate any tracks that were created by others that stood out for you - if you heard a great track someone posted on SOTMC then link to it here. These will go into a playlist on the SOTMC SoundCloud account named Best of 2015
2) Option 2
Nominate your best SOTMC entry of 2015. This option is open to you as long as you do option 1 first
3) Option 3
You can also create a playlist on SoundCloud of your SOTMC entries for 2015 and link to it in this thread, this option is particularly useful if you want to document your progress over the year. As per option 2, this option is open to you as long as you do option 1 first
I realise everyone is keen to promote their own material, but a big part of the SOTMC spirit is to listen to the other contributions, so hopefully all participants should have heard some stuff posted by others that they liked.

Wow, very nice idea, but a bit of a daunting task. Maybe I just need to give my daunt a good kicking for being such a wuss. Heard a lot of good stuff this year and, maybe more importantly, seen a lot of good progress, some technical, some to do with that urgent matter of self-confidence. I am off to Chicago for a few days (the blues of work, rather than the real thing I'm afraid), but will put this high on the defcon-get-on-with-it list upon my return. And then there's January to catch up with too, you people have been pouring it out already....
OK I've updated the second post with the playlist as it stands. I'll give people a few more days to make submissions, and then I think it would be worth trying to promote the playlist to showcase some of the great music that was created in SOTMC last year.
Well this is a difficult one to be sure,as trying to remember all the good songs I've heard this year is bloody difficult.That being said my favourite song of the year is the one I remember most and that's @richardyot I just love the melody of that one loads. Other songs that I loved were @Matt_Fletcher_2000
@Bluepunk
@rkmonkey
@marcel
@BvsMV
@High5denied
@JohnnyGoodyear "I am the big I am" sorry can't find a link to that one
@jocphone the one where you sing mate!!:D
There were others but I just can't remember titles or who did them:(
It's was a great year for learning how to make some half decent music and I wanna say a big thanks to everyone who commented and encouraged me on my tracks last year.We have lots of different styles and strengths and weaknesses but it does feel that we have collectively gotten much better at this music malarkey and that's the great thing about this club.Heres to an even better racket in 2016!!!
@LostBoy85 thanks for that contribution, delighted to be able to add a few more tracks to the playlist!
"There is simply too much to think about." -Saul Bellow
I think I'm going to have to make note each month of possibilities for the year end round up. Just too many to go through to do it fairly/honestly.
This song
is the tune which stayed in my mind the longest, or remains there. I don't know whether having just watched "Lost In Translation' again that very day welded it in there, but if I'd heard it on the radio driving home late at night I might have pulled over to call the station and ask them what it was/who it was by.
Will try and keep going through previous submissions, but want to make sure this one gets my vote etc.
That's all cool - don't feel pressured into having to make lots of submissions - the ones that made an impression are the ones that count, quality over quantity any day.
Great initiative! The first two songs that come into my mind are: Phantom Love by LostBoy85 and Sinking Slowly by @Richardyot. As Sinking Slowly is already in the list, I suggest for the list:
@LostBoy85 - Phantom Love - https://m.soundcloud.com/leo-b-5/phantom-love-master-finale
I think this is really a great song! The singing, the lyrics, the composition, the arrangements, all great, simply love it!
I like very much this one: and also
And here's a song of mine, the second I shared here on Audiobus Forum:
All the best!
Thanks for all the suggestions - I've updated the playlist and will try and promote it later this week. 21 blinding tracks - great job to all the people who took part in SOTMC last year.
@richardyot I feel sure I have left many unsung (as it were). But congratulations to you too, Mister Fearless Leader. You brought an idea initially designed for yourself and many folks have taught themselves stuff because of it. By no means a small thing.
It's been an interesting year
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 thanks for nominating my track! Made my day!!
Just a heads-up the "best of" playlist has been featured in this article on iOS and songwriting, written by Ashley Elsdon from Palm Sounds:

Nice!
