Akai iMPC Sampler
It's been a good week for music creation on iOS !! Has anyone tried Akai's new app based on their classic MPC sampler ? It's a fantastic app , sounds great , very intuitive to use - just lacks one killer feature ...... Audiobus support ! I wonder if Retronyms could make this happen . iMPC does support the rival TableTop app , but Audiobus support would be the icing on the cake . Come to think of it ...... If the TableTop and Audiobus could be linked up - pure sonic awesomeness :-)

seems like audiobus support in tabletop would eat into their IAP business model.
Might I suggest to you guys to be positive about these things? You'd be surprised who has contacted us and who in the industry has access to the SDK already.
If they see a lot of happy users even more happily asking for something great so they can tell their friends about how awesome app XYZ is, then the developers of app XYZ will consider adding the requested feature to their app - given that it's easy to do (which it is, for Audiobus).
TL;DR: Cheer up, ask Akai/Retronyms what they think about Audiobus in iMPC. There's a good chance they'll add it.
I dont think I was being negative. Just idly speculating.
My bad, I guess I misread something in either your or loopingstar's post. Sorry! No negativity spotted, please carry on...
I'd love AB support for iMPC.
Something tells me that it'll never happen.
I love the sound of the iMPC, but they basically shipped half an app, I too would love to have AB support for it but heck I'd be happy with an update (soon) with the other half of the app...could be great!
.
Good thinking, Simon. While in the AppStore, I've already made decisions favoring one app over another because of Audiobus support.
It's a matter of workflow. I'm an old analog/DAW guy, looking for comfortable mobile facilities. So I'm using Auria and praying for the promised MIDI implemetation so I can finally get my workflow the way I want, as Audiobus supplies everything else I would need for serious mobile production. Thats it.
Developers should consider this is a game changer not a simple trend. Yes, I'm using the apps that support Audiobus much more frequently than the others, which stay around and are used only when absolutely needed due to some exclusive feature...
I'm with ya FR. I check this site and ab facebook daily to see if any new apps have been added to bus. My gf thinks im a nerd.
If theres a ukele app thats been added to the bus, suddenly i drop everythin else and start youtubing it to see how it sounds. However, if it never had audiobus, I most likely would never have cared about app.
.
Lol, I'm on the same page Simone, if an app doesn't have audiobus it's usually a deal breaker for me. I like the Impc but I don't use it as much as I would if it had audiobus. I like the way it sounds but I've started sampling the sounds from it into Beatmaker 2. I stopped using nanostudio until audiobus was included. I think anyway audio app developer not including audiobus is way behind the curve and pretty much losing a lot of potential sales.
@Strizbiz Akai don't care, they have a terrible track record when come on updating their software. Just take a look at the SynthStation App.
Lol I registered just to say that, Synth Station was an absolute terrible buy, the midi keyboard it comes with only allows phones without the case. Terrible!
Impc is grand but useless without the audiobus support!!
Welcome aboard DanielRam86! I agree why go through all the trouble of making Impc only to cripple it in the end?
It has soooo much potential...but ultimately useless (not worthless, snag the samples) in its current state
@DanielRam85 - actually the keyboard works well with the CableJive extender cable and the Synth Station app on the iPad is a quit different beast. Plus of course the SS25 does regular MIDI out. And n iPhone 4S+, even with a 30 -> Lightnong adapter, with idiBridge you get to play any VM capable synth on your phone. And it does digital audio out too, RCA and Headphone. So I do not consider it a total loss.
Hi Everybody, does anyone know if the impc has any good risers, swells, & build ups? Or is it just filled basic drum kits, which I have too much of and have sort through already. Does anyone have a link to great dance music risers, swells, buildups? Any apps that make those? Thank you. [email protected]
Just download free tabletop, I think it shares the same samples from impc.
Actually, you can load IMPC and iMini on it. And several instances, too.

No, gridlock has its own sample set.

Nope, >90% same samples, unless tabletop copies impc samples to it's own folder. Used iFunbox...
Are you talking akai impc standalone vs impc within tabletop? In that case of course they're the same. One thing you're missing is the fx section.
I used ifunbox, opened tabletop's folder ,found samples ,copied them to my PC named TTsamples.
Then used ifunbox opened impc folder, found samples and copied them to the TTsamples folder made previously on the PC. Most of the samples where the same.I'll double check it again in few days...
I'm travelling alot with work these days so have been forced to use an ipad (airports, planes and taxis). I'm very impressed with what is available. Loving the impc even with its limitations (hopefully all addressed in pro version). In particular i found the fact that your sequence playback stops when you go into program edit v frustrating. It meant that i had to sample the actual track i was making so that i could use it for a reference to get my sample at the right pitch. (If i've missed something please educate ) Also i think some sort of multi edit for the pads would be cool as i had a few different versions of the sample and had to pitch them all seperately.
Using the impc within tabletop allows you to play the track when adjusting the pitch of other sounds/breaks. You don't appear to be able to do it natively. Still, impc pro looking streets ahead!
